Some day we'll have a GM that can capitalize on that system. The Pats have at least an extra 3rd and 4th rounder every frigging year.

I believe this is what JD is building towards. The Ravens have been abusing this comp pick system for quite some time. We need to get in a position where we don't cut guys and rather let their contracts expire. JD is building our base right now and the hope has to be in a few more years, guys start to walk and we replace them through the draft and then get extra picks (which are now even more valuable as you can trade them).

The GM can't capitalize on that system until he has players that are signed away AND are good enough to warrant those picks. As of now for the Jets the only way departing players will bring any value is through trades.....and he can't afford to let any decent players walk.

we need to have players worth keeping but other teams want. We draft players that are out of the league in 3 years.

Well Douglas also shot himself in his big dumb bald foot by signing zeros in Greg Van Roten, Pierre Desir, Joe Cool and the immortal Frank Gore. Keep Anderson, don't sign Perriman and voilah. We sign Fant and McGovern and have a crack at getting at least one.

Pretty sure Gore was brought in at the request of Gase as evidenced by the workload he got last season.

Keeping Anderson doesn't get us a comp. Letting him walk and NOT replacing him with a FA in Perriman may have netted us a pick. It wouldn't have been a 3rd, but any pick would have been nice, especially with Robby being an undrafted FA.

Bad rule. does nothing to improve parity.

We always get screwed on this every year.
