I'm not to sure about this and need some clarification. If we lose out on Landry and Keller is FA what kind of compensation picks would we be getting?

We wouldn't know till March of 2014, it's based mostly on the quality of free agents lost and gained in the previous offseason.

So Keller & Landry would apply to 2014 comp picks.

So say we lost Landry but he went on to have a shit season, would we still get a higher comp pick for him? I really don't understand how this comp pick stuff works.

    My prediction for 2014:

    Laron Landry-3rd round comp
    Shonn Greene- 4th round comp
    Brandon Moore- 5th round comp
Dustin Keller- 6th round comp(Maybe 7th since he was hurt for much of this year)
    Yeremiah Bell- 6th round comp
    Matt Slauson- 7th round comp(Maybe 6th)

Things that get factored in are

    - The money this FA signs for
    - The position he plays(Landry plays a position that usually doesn't get through on FA. He'd be the 2nd best safety behind Ed Reed and even then Reed may retire and may just ink a one year deal while Landry gets a multi year deal)
    - The play/production he had before becoming a FA(Pro Bowler)

Its why I have Greene as a 4th round compensation....1000+ yard season rushers don't usually get to FA.

Damn that would be really good for us next year. We need as many picks as we can get.

Are we getting any this year?

Don't think so....I doubt Burress gives us anything since he signed on so late. Had he signed somewhere early, maybe a 6th round pick.

LT would have given us maybe a 7th but he retired and Leonhard was hurt last year and just signed on with Denver so nothing there.

Burress is the lone one who may give us a late 6th or 7th round pick but I would not hold my breath.

Unless I'm mistaken a team can have a maximum of 4 compensatory picks.

just checked, yep maximum number of comp picks is 4.

    http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/0900...tributes-compensatory-draft-picks-to-15-clubs

"Under the rules for compensatory draft selections, a team losing more or better compensatory free agents than it acquires in the previous year is eligible to receive compensatory draft picks.

The number of picks a team receives equals the net loss of compensatory free agents up to a maximum of four. The 32 compensatory choices announced today will supplement the 221 choices in the seven rounds of the 2012 NFL Draft (April 26-28), which will kick off in primetime for the third consecutive year"

AH wow didn't know that...that kinda sucks. So I figure Landry/Greene/Moore/Slauson would get us 4 though I can see Keller & Bell resign.
