Jimmy Johnson admits to taping and studying signals. Troy Aikman says he used to see them all the time. Johnson also said he would send guys up to the other teams coaches box after games to look through the trash for anything gameplan related. Tainted Cowboy SBs? Shanahan got caught having a guy videotape the Chargers practice from a hill near the facility. The Broncos got caught circumventing the salary cap and lost a 3rd round draft pick. They won the SB that year. Take it away? Bill Parcells claims that the headsets would mysteriously go down early in the first quarter every time the Giants played in Frisco, so neither team could use them. Ironically, Bill Walsh always scripted the first 15 or 20 offensive plays.... Hmmmmm It was widely believed that George Allen mic'd up the visitors lockerroom in Washington. Belichik broke the rules, got caught (foolishly, he never thought Man-judas would rat him out) and he and the Pats paid a steep price. The NFL is changing and old-schoolers lik BB need get with the new NFL. The new Polian-Dungy types send the league a tape because the other team is not playing nice and their holding our guys. Brian Billick (and this one is just silly) the bad old Jets are making noise on the other side of the line and it's messing my guys up. Play fair! I don't like the trend.
Ehh...you're just upset that the Patsies got caught. NOW, you have to go jump on another bandwagon. Hey, the Lions are 2-0.
This is the first time I've heard of the Bill Walsh thing, but the rest I am familiar with. Since the NFL themselves operate the mike system, I tend to discount any of the stories about the mikes....they have glitches all the time. How many times have you seen a ref's mike go out when he is announcing the infractions? Is someone "tampering with" his mike? And he's not taking the impacts that the players' helmets on the field are. It's only natural to expect these things to glitch on a regular basis.
The NFL has had cheating as long as its had games. This will not stop because of the video incident. Teams will find new ways. The worst part of it for the NFL was that they sent out a memo 3 days before the Jets/Pats game reminding teams not to do this. The Pats went ahead and did it anyway. Its the blatant disregard for rules and arrogance that got Bill in so much trouble.
