Not that this makes a difference now, but lets break this down.

Players gets tackled in bounds a 2:49 to pick up a first down. The appropriate way to handle this is to let the clock run down to 2:09, so:

    2:09 - First down play
Clock stops at 2 minute warning
    2:00 - 2nd down play
    Use your second timeout
    1:55 - 3rd down play
    Use your third timeout
Lions 4th down with about 1:50 left....

    The way Rex handled it:

    Waits 9 seconds ,

    Calls 2nd timeout at 2:38
Lions run first down play down to 2 minute warning.

Lions run 2nd down play, Jets use timeout. Now the Jets have no timeouts left and the Lions can run the clock down to about 1:15 with their 3rd down play.

Complete mismanagement, not that we were going to stop em but had we did, we cost ourselves 40 seconds.

Rex's clock management has always been bad.

I like Rex but over-blitzing, penalties for ill-discipline and shit clock management are his three big faults.

Classic example of something Rex should have improved on after 5 plus years as a HC, yet, he has not.

Also if Rex wanted to call a timeout, you call it IMMEDIATELY, so if it was 2:49, the lions would need to have a 9 second play, chances are they don't and the play ends at like 2:42 which means they would have to run another at 2:02.....

But even thats not the right way to handle it, if you handle it as stated above you are basically assured the best situation.

You can also add waiting until its too long to bench your QB to that list.

It's horrendous. It's sad. It's a joke. We constantly are sloppy, undisciplined and just flat out suck.

He's a joke of a head coach. An absolute joke. We
Talk about Geno making the same mistakes for 20 games now. Rex is making the same mistakes he's made for what, 90 games? 90 fuxkin games and he doesn't understand time outs before and after the 2 minute warning. I can teach this to my 9 year
    Old in 29 minutes

Clock management caused us not to convert a 2nd and 1? How about the 1st and 5?

Absolutely not. Decent lighting would have turned the ball over in field position even this team should be able to put seven on the board.

It was. Unless it is sure thing, you do not waste the timeout

Wrong. It's a challenge worth 50-60 yards with a lot of time to see it before you throw the red flag. There's plenty of things to fault today, this one's near the bottom of the list.

You are wrong. Rex should have been thinking longer term then and saved a timeout. This does not absolve him from his coaching at the end

Pay me to do it, I've mastered clock management from Madden.
