Buzz: Trade Imminent? Posted on August 30th, 2008 by Bent Latest blog post from Cimini suggests the Jets are about to make a trade. However, it may *not* be for Jesse Chatman, whose agent has reportedly denied that his client has been traded OR released. The cutdown deadline is 4pm ET. Cimini wonders if the trade could be for Chris Baker or Justin Miller. Meanwhile, an unsubstantiated rumor (apparently from ESPN1050, hat tip Ed(itor)) says that Kellen Clemens has been traded to the Vikings. Don't understand why MIN would want a QB, unless something is going on with Booty or Frerotte. I also don't think the Vikings would trade a safety or tackle due to injury to Williams and suspension of McKinnie. Perhaps they have a guard they could trade?
This is great news. Third yr and he's still struggling against the 2nd and 3rd stringers. Worthless piece of shit may now actually be worth something.
Hmm interesting ..... wonder why they just didn't trade Chad to the Viqueens. I think they may have been able to get more. It doesn't make sense the Vikes would want the guy that couldn't beat out Pennington for the starting job. BTW god forbid something happens to Brett are we ok with Rat or Ainge coming off the bench?
Why would Minny want a QB? Because all they have is Tarvaris Jackson and Gus Frerotte. Jackson can do nothing but run and Frerotte can do nothing...period
I just don't understand why the Viqueens would want a backup when they have one in Frerotte? Do they believe that Clemens has a bigger upside than Jackson? They could have had Chad for essentially nothing becuase it was imminent he was going to be cut.
Wow. This is some news. I doubt they'll trade a player to us because Clemens only really requires them to trade a subpar player or someone on their roster who looked promising and will not make the cut. Maybe a draft trade pick? What leverage and how much is Clemens worth?
I don't understand it from a Minnesota standpoint. I know Jackson got hurt but he is supposed to be back for the opener as far as I know. Did Booty or Frerotte get injured the other night or something? Clemens would be the 3rd or 4th QB there. There's no way he's beating out Jackson or Frerotte if they are healthy. (FTR: I am a rare fan of Jackson. I think there are 46 of us, with 27 being relatives of the guy.)
