CJ2K is willing to take a pay cut -reportedly-(maybe 4M$), he probably still has a bit in his tank. Idzik was part of the Seattle org. that traded for Lynch? Obviously are defense is our strong part, but wouldn't this make sense? Maybe a 4th/5th rounder? I think it make sense if he is willing to take a pay cut...
He will end up in NE or on some other team that acts like they are trying to win now, not one building for something that may or may not happen 3-4 years down the road when he is home on the couch watching on tv.
http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/4743/chris-johnson It would be nice to have a homerun hitter on offense but I heard he's a real self centered douchebag and his contract blows. I wonder what they want for him.
He said he would take a pay cut if he was traded I was reading on my phone this morning so I dont have the source but it shouldnt be too hard to find. If we can get him short term and not have to give much up I'd take him.
Somebody please explain something to me? Everybody keeps saying we are in build mode? I do agree with that to a point but we did go 8-8 last season. So that not really a team that in rebuild mode that much. I think we are a few players away from the playoffs. IMO. So my question is how are we in rebuild mode? Teams like the Browns,Jags are in rebuild mode.
Don't let the 8-8 fool you, we are rebuilding. We had a heck of a lot of rookies and guys with minimal NFL experience starting for us last season with big holes in the roster and weaknesses. This season we will be a year more experience with some holes filled in through the draft and a couple of FA signings. Then next year we will add more depth in the draft and with smart free agent signings. Anyway you see where I'm going here, we're rebuilding.
No way. want no part of him. he's well past his prime. you're going to see this: 15 carries for 15 yards hoping that the 16th carry is an 80 yarder. alright for fantasy football. terrible for real football.
The last I heard the Titans were planning on shopping him for a few days and the media doubted anyone would express interest at which point they would release him. So I don't think it really matters about the pay cut or not. I do think that Ivory and Johnson would be a good 1,2 punch. Something Johnson needs to try to revitalize his career because I don't think he can shoulder the load anymore. Rebuilding is a relative term, I agree I tend to think of a team like the Jags in their situation as "rebuilding". I see us as just an average NFL team trying to get over the hump, I think we're vastly underestimated however. Look what we were able to accomplish last season with some no name low talent WR's, a rookie QB, and a OC that kept pulling Ivory out of the game every time he would start producing. I was thrilled to be 8-8 and if Geno can look like he did in 8 of those games for all 16 this season, watch out!
I understand all that. But that every team in the NFL. If Geno played a lot better last season we are in the playoffs.
We're in rebuild mode because we had basically the worst receiving corps in the league, one of the worst secondaries, and a rookie QB who commonly has 3 - 4 interception games. We averaged 18.1 points per game, and had a -14 turnover differential. That means that a lot of the time, we lost the "turnover battle", which is highly correlated with losing. The teams with winning records usually have positive turnover differentials, especially playoff teams. We had some flukey wins- in Tampa Bay, Allen saved a TD that would have cost us the game. Then Geno Smith got pushed out of the sidelines for a penalty that allowed Folk to have a much easier field goal try. The second Patriots game was won by us because we got a penalty that had never been called in a game before. We still earned and deserved those wins, but we do have to recognize that luck played a big role in those wins and we easily could have been 6-10. We got blown out by the Bengals, and had a bunch of games where we didn't score any touchdowns at all. So although we were able to win a bunch of games, and should be happy with the season in a lot of ways, I don't really see this as a team that is just 1 or 2 players away from a playoff run. We need at least two new receivers (one more after Decker), and to patch up the secondary. Other objectives are improving the pass rush to take advantage of the defensive line, adding depth at the offensive line to prepare for the potential decline of Mangold and Ferguson, and adding a new running back. (We are going to be running a lot.) I don't know that we can realistically do all of that in one season. And then, of course, we still have the QB question. We just don't know if Geno Smith is good or not. He had nobody to throw to last year, so we don't really know how much of it is due to being a rookie, having no targets, or just not being very good. Hopefully it was the first and second categories- but one of the big goals for this offseason should be making sure that we have some competent targets so we at least have the potential of a decent passing game. When you add all of that up, to me, it says we are definitely rebuilding. On the other hand, just because it's a rebuilding team doesn't mean that we can't also win. We can win 9 or even 10 games, without relying heavily on luck, if the passing game and secondary are much better, and if the o-line and running game don't decline significantly.
haha I know. All of these Revis account names are pretty funny now. The mods should open up a thread to offer anyone with a revis based name a chance to change it
