I went to the Cincinnati Bearcat game today and had a blast. First, let me say Nippert Stadium is awesome. Seats around 35K-40K and is in the middle of west campus. Lots of standing room only areas. A great crowd and incredible atmosphere. This is only the second time I've been to Nippert, and it's been remodeled since I was there last,(early 2000s) and looks great. I've attended quite few OSU games, but I enjoy the smaller venue at Cincy and the excitement from the Students. The large crowd at the Horseshoe doesn't make the student section intimidating, if that makes sense. The old alumni are a little stuffy at times and sit on their hands. Pike had a great game (32/46 399 ) and is such a polished QB. IMO, today really helped his stock and if he continues to do the same vs PITT and the bowl game, he's a Rd 1 QB. I understand Illinois defense isn't anything special, still Pike was solid all day. Pike was throwing the ball on almost every play.....not much of a running game. Gilyard is such a good route runner and has good hands. Great Kickoff return for a TD too!! Watching the game in person I could concentrate on Gilyard's route running and blocking, he's going to be a nice solid #2 receiver in the NFL. I'm kind of against drafting a WR in Rd 2...if the Jets took Marty I won't complain. Benn was real quiet, except for one reception for about 50 yards. I was more impressed with Fayson and Duvalt. I had a great day. Nothing like seeing a game in person.
