Raiders having fun at Mark's expense By Rich Cimini The Raiders haven't forgotten Mark Sanchez's infamous hot dog-eating stunt from two years ago, and it sounds like it could be a source of motivation. Raiders coach Hue Jackson wasn't on the staff in 2009, but he's certainly aware of the incident. "The hot dog? I don’t eat hot dogs during the game, but it sounded like somebody did," Jackson told the Oakland media Wednesday. "That was his prerogative back then, I wasn’t here. I hope we can make it more interesting for him so he doesn’t have to eat hot dogs. So, hopefully, we can take the mustard, the relish, and the onions -- all that -- and put it away and play a little football." The Jets grilled the Raiders (pardon the pun), 38-0, and Sanchez was caught on camera in the final minutes, eating a frank. He was criticized for his behavior, and he later apologized. Jackson was asked if he'd use the hot-dog episode as motivation with his players. He didn't say he wouldn't. "I can’t let all my secrets out. I can’t do that," he said. "The guy had a hot dog. Was it a Wienershnitzel or where’d it come from? I don’t know. It looked to pretty good by the way he was eating it, so I’m sure we’ll have some fun this week." If an opposing player pulled a stunt like that against the Jets, you can bet Rex Ryan would show that clip to the team. Sounds like Jackson might, too. I hate Rich Cimini, but this one was just too ridiculous to not post. I'm hoping by the end of the game Sanchez, Bart Scott, and Revis are eating hamburgers this time right in the view of the cameras while the backups are taking snap in a lopsided Jets victory. Bonus points to Sanchez if Rich Cimini comes home to see Mark fingerblasting his wife on the stove top.
The man was hungry and he was pulled out in a blowout win by that point I dont understand the controversy. What kind of added motivation could a team take from that. They should be motivated because they got stomped out last time and not because Mark ate a hotdog.
i dont think its ridiculous. i mean the whole thing got blown out of proportion that being said if im a HC of the other team u drill home the point that these guys dont feel threatened and think they can sit and have lunch while you should be playing your ass off. you best bet rex would do something similar
Rex would already be drilling the team because they lost 38-0 last time. The fact that eating a hotdog could be used as any more motivation is astounding to me. You shouldn't be embarrassed by the opposing team eating you should be embarrassed by how you played.
How Mark didn't get a Sabretts endorsement deal after this episode is a mystery to me. Where was his publicist?
what you dont get is the hot dog correlates to the beating they took. if it was ever a contest you know youd never see any player eating on the sideline. they go hand in hand
I hope they actually do this. In fact, they should have a hot dog contest just to keep them interested on the field and not get bored.
it was 38-0 towards the end of the game when this happened, the raiders were far from playing their asses off, plus he did it very discreetly, it wasn't like he was walking up & down the sidelines. If the camera didn't focus in on him very few would have known it occurred.
I wouldn't care if he's eating a full-course Italian dinner with a glass of Chardonnay as long as we're winning/won...................!
Only way the Raiders will remind the Jets about the hotdog is if the Jets are shutting them out again
