Cimni is such a douche. Did we really need a "miracle" to win the game last night? Holy shit. Yeah, Brad Smith was an unlikely hero, but even if you take away his two touchdowns we're still winning 12-10. Ugh. http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/columns/story?columnist=cimini_rich&id=5850836
The "miracle" thing is a bit of a stretch but I don't disagree with much else. The Jets Offense was terrible last night and Sanchez played about as badly as he has all year. The Jets had better be ready to back up their talk next week.
What's amazing is when the Jets lose a game in which 2 of the 3 units dominate a game and lose it's the other team was better but as bad as the offense was last night was the Bengals offense any better? The Jets won because they were better then the Bengals in all 3 phases of the game not because of a "miracle" The D absolutely dominated that game so the Jets O didn't need to have a 300 yard passer to win. Oh and in case Rich forgot the 1st Smith TD was on the offensive side of the ball on a play the Jets run routinely. He acts like it was a miracle we scored on that play instead of giving credit for perfect execution and more then perfect downfield blocking by the WR's. He makes it seem like it was the Eli Manning pass to David Tyree in the SB. It's not like Smith broke 13 tackles, fumbled the ball and broke 12 more on his way to the end zone.
2 plus quarters? I will give him the first half was terrible. But the first drive of the second half? Two plays, TD. The D played great in the second half, I believe the Bengals had about 50 yards of offense. The special teams righted the ship after some dumb penalties. And the offense did just enough to win.
This pretty much summarizes the situation. As I said in another thread I find it amazing that if the Jets don't dominate in every aspect of the game they are somehow lucky to win, and are therefore disappointing and suspect. Of course, they're in good company - New Orleans obviously was lucky to win yesterday (thank you, Roy Williams), and presumably the poor performance of their defense (and being behind in the third quarter) means that the Patriots were also lucky to win (that "miracle's" name is presumably Tom Brady). I look forward to future "lucky" wins from Atlanta, Green Bay, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, etc., since apparently unless you win 54-0 you're lucky to keep winning games. The Jets were overwhelmingly the better team last night, and deserved to win easily, which is exactly what they did.
The only miracle the Jets have had is Woody not going "Mike Brown" on us and replacing Boobway with Tannenbaum when he did in order to prevent us from losing Mike T. The rest is gravy.
I love the theory "take away the Brad Smith plays and who knows what could have happened"? Take away the 6 TD's Vick threw against the Redskins and "who knows". Take away the guy who fell on Jenkins leg and "who knows" what our defense looks like? THIS IS FOOTBALL YOU DOUCH BAG AND THIS IS ALL PART OF THE GAME!!!!!!
It seems like unless they get a complete game (Offense, Def, Special Teams) and they don't score on trick plays or non standard plays then its lucky. The only bad part about the Offense was the passing which Sanchez admitted he played terrible and has to play better to win next week.
This wasn't a miracle win but the game still felt like one of those fluke games. The Brad Smith td run and kickoff returns are unusual plays that aren't going to happen very often. The other TD was setup by the ball hitting the guys head. Not even sure that it hit his head since he didn't even know it Theres no way you could watch the game last night and feel like you dominated the game and/or are a super bowl team
Even Super Bowl contenders squeak by certain teams. Hell, even the 2007 Patriots barely beat a bad Jets team. To call a 16 point victory a "miracle" is asinine. Cimini is a fag.
Bingo... If Brady doesn't throw 4 TD's yeaterday what happens? It's a terrible argument because the Jets dominated the game. This wasn't the Jet/Phin game at the Meadowlands last year in which Miami scored a defensive TD and two special team TDs yet were dominated on both offense and defense. That is a miracle win. The Jets were better then the Bengals on defense, offense and special teams. Not sure what would make that a miracle? Because Sanchez didn't throw for 300 yards and 3 TDs? Did Sanchez play his best? No but he was still better then Palmer and Holmes was the best WR on the field. Our Rbs were better then Benson, not sure why it's a miracle. Our defense held them to 49 yards of offense in the 2nd half. The only reason they even scored in the 2nd half was because of some bad luck by Weatherford.
Well certainly. But super bowl contenders typically don't squeak through 3 or 4 games against mediocre to bad teams But we agree on one thing, the win wasn't a miracle
16 point victory is not squeaking by. Yeah the offense had a bad day but the defense and special teams were incredible.
