http://www.footballoutsiders.com/futures/2015/futures-csu-pueblo-qb-chris-bonner Have a look at this guy as a mid-late round prospect. 6'7" pocket passer? Rocket Arm? Good pocket presence to avoid the middle rush? Interesting. I'd rather have him than most of the QB prospects like Hundley.
He went to Colorado State-Pueblo. what kind of competition has he faced? He also wasn't invited to the combine. That said, here's a BR article about him: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...-qb-draft-prospect-you-havent-heard-about-yet I'd throw a 7th rounder his way. Maybe.
Hahaha holy shit. Did you watch those clips? Those were some of the worst highlight clips I've ever seen. I can't even indulge some of the commentary, those were some of the worst throws I've ever seen. Tight end. _
Yeah, I did. We saw different things I guess. I saw a guy with a strong arm, big body (6'7"!), decent mechanics and wasn't playing out of the spread (A traditional pocket passer). He was able to drop back to pass, elude a pass rush by stepping into the pocket like a pro style QB would. His accuracy wasn't great but he made the throws. I see a project, and a better one than Tahj Boyd. But have your laugh you clown you!
Clown? The guy was awful. Other than being s big body that can "step up" and avoid the rush against Division 2 players, his throws were terrible. High, low, in traffic, near picks with absolutely no touch. It's as if they took the worst passes he'd ever thrown and used them as his highlights. If those are his highlights, I'd hate to see his lowlights. He had a 56% comp rate last year. Against Division 2 players. He looks like a better project as a tight end. But you found an article extolling his virtues (with video lowlights) and I'M the clown? _
Yes, your the clown. You like to put HAHAHAHAHA in your text like a laughing fool and say you wont "indulge" commentary on a subject like your the prince of posting, like you actually added something insightful. But then you post something anyway. Not constructive like Axel did (thanks for the Bleacher Report Axel), but just your opinion and a personal dig at me. You are right about just small clips of game tape not telling the story. But that goes for all of these small school prospects and some of these guys will pan out and have careers in the NFL. They may have just matured later, or had circumstances that didn't allow them to play Division 1. It happens.
Here is a writeup on Bonner from the Colorado pro day last week. Bonner was invited to attend: 2015 Pro Day Notes: Thursday, March 12, 12:00 a.m. By Tony Pauline, http://draftinsider.net/ Colorado Receiver Tyler McCulloch performed well at Colorado's pro day and really helped himself. The big receiver measured 6050/218lbs, posted a vertical jump of 37 inches, broad jump of 10-10 then timed 4.50 seconds in the 40. His other marks included 4.23 seconds in the short shuttle and 7.13 seconds in the 3-cone drill. McCulloch caught the ball very well. Back in 2012 McCulloch, then a sophomore, looked terrific on film as he was the Buffs primary receiver as Paul Richardson was on the sidelines with a knee injury. McCulloch then was injured himself in 2013 but returned to play well this year. Part of the issue for McCulloch was terrible quarterback play at Colorado, but rest assured, he's someone who could surprise in camp this summer. Also working out yesterday was Colorado-Pueblo signal-caller Chris Bonner, a favorite of mine. By all accounts, Bonner was terrific as only four balls hit the ground. Everyone I spoke with mentioned his rifle arm and his accuracy. Bonner will be working out again during the San Diego State pro day.
Grow up dude. It's not a personal attack at you, I'm laughing at the clips which show an inaccurate thrower at a Duvision 2 school as some sort if prospect. I don't see great mechanics, I see a grown man playing with children as the reason why he can avoid the rush. If he also made some decent throws in those clips then I'd say maybe something to work with. He's also a 56% comp player last year at a Division 2 school, worse than his 58% the year before. That he plays in a pro style offense means nothing if he can't throw accurately. And it's "you're" not "your" as long as we're being snarky. _
Ok, as long as your not being personal. More for you to look at. Some decent throws and accuracy by him in 2013 in this clip. http://www.hudl.com/athlete/656538/highlights/124796376/v2
Yeah had nothing to do with you, I just thought those clips were funny. So I watched this highlight clip and those are some big time throws. I can understand a low comp % because he looked to be throwing a LOT down field. Some very open guys but still some nice passes. If a few of these throws were in your first post I wouldn't have laughed at them. I honestly thought it was a goof I actually really like that number 81 WR, big guy with good hands. _
No worries JStokes, thanks. Yes, alot of these throws were to wide open guys. So its a big question mark whether he could play against better defense. But I liked his ability to roll out and get the ball 20+ yards down the field quickly. Interested to see where this kid ends up.
Sorry Pulse, bonner should never be drafted in any dimension. He put up 219 yards a game last year against super low tier competition. If he was anything close to an NFL prospect he would have put up monster stats at his level. And you don't even need to look at the stats. Watch like 5 mins of game tape. Dude is obviously a poor thrower. Gangly and awkward an his ball is so wobbly. Gimme a fuckin break. Hundley is the best prospect in this draft but you rather have someone who should not even be signed as an UDFA .
By the way, I'll answer your question right now, he will end up somewhere not called an NFL roster or practice squad.
Ok, I think he will. Someone will add him to the roster and see if they could train him up. But opinions are like what?
The 2013 footage definitely looks a lot better to me than the 2014 footage. He looks like he gets rid of the ball quickly and effortlessly with little or no wasted motion, but I'm not sure his arm is a "rifle". He throws a lot of 30-40 yard passes, but most of them are a little underthrown. That said, he looks like he's throwing with mostly his arm. He's not throwing off his back foot, but also isn't stepping into his throws. His weight is on his front foot, he throws with his arm, and kicks up his back foot ala Tom Tupa (or a girl). His receivers frequently look like they're having to wait on the ball, or the placement slows them down a little and allows the defender to make a tackle. His receivers actually look to be very good. They turn some underthrown balls where they should have been tackled into additional 20-30 yard gains if not TDs. The completion percentage is a major concern for me even if many of this throws are longer (It's hard to tell since this is a highlight tape, and they may be focusing only on the longer throws.). The completion percentage, underthrown balls, and ball placement/accuracy are probably all related to his not stepping into his throws and throwing solely with his arm. If he's there in the 7th round and the Jets take him, that would be fine with me, or if the Jets sign him as a UDFA, even better. It would be interesting to see how he develops, although at this point, unless he learns how to step into his throws, I don't see anything other than a career backup.
Hey now! Take it easy on Tupa. Not everybody can be Neil Lomax. Besides, he had to protect that leg for punting purposes.
LOL! Is that why he kicked his right foot up? Conner is the only other male I've ever seen one other male throwing a football do that.
