Who should I start: Jamaal Charles (KC) vs. ATL -- better RB, but shares with Hillis or Ronnie Brown (SD) vs. OAK -- worse RB, but no timeshare & OAK is poor against run?
Charles can break a big run on any given play. I wouldn't worry about the timeshare, his value was still good for a RB1 when he was splitting carries with Thomas Jones.
I never understood this. Is it really fun to play fantasy football when somebody else is doing it for you?
lol it is not exactly somebody doing it for you. It is gauging your perspective to make sure you are not going off biased info in your own head. Usually people have a way in which they are leaning and want to make sure they aren't missing something
I like Brown, but if you drafted Charles as a Stud RB, then you should start him. I personally didnt draft Charles because I see bust. I remember last year opening day many people sat Rice vs PIT.. he had a huge day. never sit your studs. Pick 1. Redman, Tate, Turbin ?
doesn't necessarily mean you have to do what they say, like in another thread I posted a trade I had already made to see what people thought of it. As you see, most people are explaining why they'd pick a certain player, maybe the OP agrees, maybe he doesn't, but its ultimately his decision
I tend to overvalue matchups, had Charles in the starting lineup all along, but as always 2nd thoughts started to creep in.
I wasn't particularly high on him either, but he was available in late 2nd round so it was a value pick.
You mean to tell that you never read anything about players related to fantasy? Be careful here because if you do, then you also have "somebody else doing it for you". The point is there are very few people who follow all teams and players closely enough to be able to do it truly in their own. Any kind of research, and you're already using someone else. So yes, I do research extensively, keep track of my decisions over the years. IMO this is the only way to improve -- use power of statistics to your advantage. My lineups are usually set up several days in advance, but I tend to overvalue matchups and community advice helps me keep my head straight.
Last year I was drafting 1st and picked Rice. For the 1st game I had similar doubts and ended up putting Rice in against Pit. Very reluctantly, again because of the matchup. I should've remembered this on my own. Charles is a starter until injury or significant dip in performance.
