I'd LOVE to see the Jets make a move for him. He's still got gas in the tank, and knows this style defense. He's be a great addition.

He's not nearly big enough to play alongside Vilma. In the 3-4 he essentially played Vilma's position with Randall Godfrey taking on blocks for him much like Barton's job was. If you think Vilma struggled this year adapting it'd be nothing if on the inside he was with a basically older, mirror image of himself. Edwards is what we should hope Vilma becomes in this defense, not his teammate.

    Nooooooooo Thank You!
I'd rather take a chance with Marvin Jones or Mo Lewis right now than with Donnie Edwards.

Why would we sign an Old LB when we have some pretty good Young ones?
The days of starting over aged, on the way out vets are over.

He's 34 years old He isn't that good to begin with.

Do any of you guy's remember the Game footage of Donnie Edwards while playing with Kansas City and Kevin mawuae was Schooling him all over the field. If this guy can be man-handled at any given time then I wouldnt look at him in any regaurds at all.

so because he was man handled for a game by one of the best centers in the game over 5 years ago, you want nothing to do with him? Impeccable logic if i must say so myself.

edwards has been there 5 yrs
His first season with the squad, he made the 2003 Pro Bowl as an alternate.
    Godfrey 3 yrs
290 tackles in 2 years without godfrey. doesnt sound like godfrey is the reason for his success to me.. by the way i would take him on this team.. just based on expierence alone he can teach vilma a whole lot about playing in the 3-4 defense. if anything it wasnt because of godrey it was because of big jamal williams beasting and demanding a double team and keep edwards clean..

This would be another QUALITY signing. A player with versatility, team guy, SPEED, and oh yeah... SPEED. He's a tackling machine. And before I hear it, he's old this that or the other thing... not every player on the roster can be 24 and Pro Bowl quality. It's just not feasable.

Ellis-92 is right on, this guy has some speed still and more importantly experience in the 3-4. How can you say we don't need him when OLB is a weak position for us? I'm not saying throw 5 mil at the guy but he's worth bringing in just to keep him away from the pats, I guarantee if he's with the pats next year we'll regret seeing him twice a year.

Obviously picking up Edwards would make a Vilma deal easier. I agree that he's probably not worth getting if he has to fill the Barton role.
