I am not making this up, you can look it up: http://www.villagevoice.com/2008-09-10/news/jet-engine-brett-favre/ This is probably the worst put-down of the New York Jets and us fans that I have read for a while... I'm posting this so we can set this jerkwad straight!
whatever, the fact that he said "probably" means nothing to me... and its the village voice. Fuck do they know about football?
That was really harsh, guess Favre is an ego driven, whiney little baby, and not that good of a QB. hmy: Wonder how he got those 3 MVPs, even. What do you think, is Chad a better passer??? How is that even possible, seems like most of you think his arm is shot. Could he have made that throw to Cotchery last week?
Wow. Just wow. Perhaps the most moronic thing ever written in the sports world. Chad may make more "safe" throws then Favre, but is not the better passer. Not even close.
The source is the Village Voice, while the Voice is normally a great read it is not exactly known for its sports coverage. Favre is one of the best passers ever, that is no knock on Pennington that he is not even in the same league as Favre as a passer.
The Voice was founded on the principle of dissent, subversion and the critique of conventional wisdom. However, at this point the line between necessary dissent and dissent simply for its own sake have been greatly blurred by the editors. I mean, I defy anyone to produce something as simple as a movie review from the Voice that isn't laced with pretentious, pseudo-intellectual put downs and criticisms that amount to nothing more than verbal masturbation by the author.
yeah, I saw that Tuesday, I thought about posting it, but I thought why bother, it's not even worth any of you wasting your time to read it. But I did leave this comment, before forgetting all about it:
I guess they did not see this from Cimini They didn't have that under Chad Pennington. He was popular among his teammates, but he was a methodical, by-the-book, 10-play-drive kind of quarterback. Problem was, the nickels and dimes didn't add up to a whole lot of money at the end of the day. That was the case on Sunday. He completed almost twice as many passes as Favre, but what did it get him? A big 'L.' The Jets respect Pennington too much to say anything bad about him, but it's obvious they're smitten with Favre's charisma and go-for-broke approach.
I almost miss having the time to go to the fridge and grab a beer while Chad was winding up for an 8 yard pass…I could always make it back just before I landed in the hands of a defender.
