Heard Chad interviewed last nite----I wish this guy could have stayed healthy but I stray. He talked about how he ( like many of us ) "did not know if he could trust his shoulder / look his coach in the eye and say he could come back. He said how hard it was / is for him to leave football while the fish were 4- 4 and Sporano had just handed him the starting job in week 9 and that he gets hurt 1 play into the game and it's over for him "
Now I know this is a stretch but if Pennington ( who I thought was done a surgery ago ) can get healthy,,,how ironic would it be if he was brought in by Rex and Sporano to backup Sanchez ? I always liked Chad ,,,always a class act even after the way the organization dissed him for Favre-----he still said all the right things , I wish him the best of everything in the future

Your heart's in the right place, but the last thing the Jets need is another backup QB who is no threat at all to ever play.

Chad would be like Brunell as a backup: a useless option if Sanchez ever went down.

What the Jets need to do is go find a Tarvaris Jackson type QB as backup/competition for Sanchez. Somebody just good enough to push him without causing a QB controversy in an already weak locker room. Somebody who could potentially come in and help the Jets win with a lot of support if Sanchez went down with an injury or just started stinking the place up in his 4th season.

Think a Jeff Hostetler type. Bill Parcells always said that a team that has two starting QB's has no starting QB's and he's right. He always picked backups that wouldn't be a total flop (until 1999 unfortunately) but wouldn't cause locker room issues in rough stretches.

I want him as our QB coach! Or like assistant QB coach to start off his career... come back Chad!

He can be so much more than a coach. If he ran for political office, I'd vote for him!

I think withGMac on board Penny could be a viable number two. He'd be a far better mentor for both Sanchez and McElroy that gambling on him staying on the field for. 3 or 4 weeks should it be necessary with McElroy behind him wouldn't be all that bad....

Face it....if you get to that point your seasons prob screwed anyway

I for one, would welcome him to be our QB coach. What a student of the game, who would be a definite upgrade.

Dude, I loved Chad too, but you need to give it up. Chad's career is over or should be. It's time for him to focus on becoming a broadcaster or coach.

He was never the same after the injury in the preseason Giants game. It seemed to have destroyed his mindset and confidence to pull off those awesome playfakes etc. To be honest, this is kind of how i felt after Sanchez got his ass kicked i Baltimore this year. I thought he never mentally recoverd. But I do think he will next year.

Joe Klecko I hear you---I thought he was done after his second surgey,,,I also saw him beat us on the last day of the year ugh.

He cannot be worse than Brunnell----no way-----maybe I should have said,, bring him in as the # 3 guy / coach and either Mcelroy or someone else would be the # 2 / push Mark for playing time but these things have a funny way of working out--time will tell.

Chad actually bounced back well from that injury and started the '04 season really strongly. It was the shoulder injury that year that he never fully recovered from.

I absolutely loved Chad and it was very upsetting what happened to him, happened. No way in hell should he still be playing. I would, however, love to have him as a QB coach.

I grew up watching Chad play for the Jets and he never got the credit he deserved but I think his football playing career is over. If they could bring him in as the QB coach or some type of coach it would be great.

He was one the smartest QBs when he played and had great demeanor, a thing that Sanchez can improve on.

I think the idea of him as a backup is more of a fantasy. If he did play we all know he is prone to injuries and then who would be out there playing? McElroy, ok no.

If he is on the team he would help out more as a coach than a player.

    I agree.

He already started his broadcasting career this year. I heard him do a game or two. He was pretty good for a rookie announcer.

I've been saying the same thing for awhile, Chad's super smart & great @ reading defenses plus he's one of the best ALLTIME play action QB's, something that Sanchez actually does decent but can improve in.

Chad was a very talented QB, unfortunately he could not stay on the field. He is a class act and I wish him nothing but the best!
