Does anyone feel like this guy would be a good addition to the defense? He seems to have good measurable's ( 6'1", 238lbs.) and ran a 4.68 40 yard dash. He's rated as a 4-5 round pick, but it seems like he's definatly worth a look if he's still on the board in the 5th round.
I generally like players with a pedigree. Matthews is a solid player with good tackling ability. Lacks quickness and speed, but makes up for it with intelligence. While I think we need some backup depth at ILB, there may be some better options at other key positions in the later rounds.
Just had a big turnover, think it raises his stock at all? I personally like pedigree too, wouldn't mind grabbing him.
Saw this guy making some plays tonight. The fact that hes Clay Matthews brother makes him much much more intriguing. But how excited would he be on a team where he wouldn't really have a chance at being a starter. Yeah Scott is gonna be 31 next season but him and Rex have a love affair going on, then Harris is easily the best player on our defense after Revis. Still if we could land him 5th round id be excited
Even if he's an ILB, if he has pass rushing ability Rex could find a way to make him work in our scheme
Presumably if he's going to be an ILB, he'd have a better chance eventually starting in a 3-4 with 2 ILBs than a 4-3. If he's going to be a fifth round pick, he likely wouldn't be able to start right away on any team anyway.
Yeah but with Scott likely NEVER playing for another coach other than Rex and the fact that he doesnt have a lot of wear and tare, Scott could be here for another 5 or 6 seasons. And Harris only 26 far longer than that. So the question is would this guy want to wait until hes 28/29 to have a chance to be a starter in the nfl.
1) Why would Scott never play for another HC? 2) Not much wear and tear... are you kidding me? Scott's style of play takes the toll... maybe you don't notice him much but he's VERY physical! Scott has 3 year MAX at the level he's playing...
Scott LOVES Rex, and Rex LOVES Scott. I think Scott would take a significant pay cut to play for Rex. And look @ Ray Lewis hes pretty damn physical too. The guy still hits like a beast and hes what 35? Ray Lewis has 10 seasons played and is still going strong (could see him going another 1-3 years), Scott has 6. I understand that Scott isnt Ray but they both play the same role in pretty much the same defenses. Id be shocked if Scott has 3 years Max left.
Every team is probably looking at him and every team's forum has a thread on this guy. Fuck him he's undersized and probably didn't get a chance at the roids like his older brother did.
Maybe, it all depends if a team really wants Matthews and doesn't want till wait till the next round. IMO, he has some limitations that will be maginified in the NFL. The College game is much slower than the Pros. Matthew's strenght is reading and reacting quickly, his weakness is speed (quickness). I just don't see the Jets looking at Matthews in Rd 3 or 4, we have other needs.
Yeah, i noticed that he isn't the fastest guy on the field after watching the game. Maybe the 49ers will take him to complement Patrick Willis? Just throwing it out there.
he wrote on Twitter last week "someone send the word to TT, try to get me in GB." wants to play with his bro. The Pack doesn't even need him.
