Woodrow, please don't make the same mistake of hiring a coach before the GM. Idzik/Wrecks was a disaster. Wrecks/Tanny should have both stayed or both been fired. The new GM deserves the right to have a say on his coach. 45 years of doing everything backwards, let's do it right for a change. Signed a loyal Jet fan since 1965.

Anybody know if woodsy woodpecker is still on his way to Seattle to interview Quinn?

Or is the deal for Marrone / texans scout basically a done deal?

Hiring a coach before your GM is sort of like hiring an OC before hiring your HC.

I know it's worked in Seattle, but Carroll and Schneider are the best of the best.

They'll query any prospective GM on if he's comfortable working with the coaches they've interviewed before making any hires. It's not like there are a million HC candidates; there will be some overlap. Reality is when you're trying to interview coaches on playoff teams, timing is critical.

the last thing woody needs to do is make rash decisions. take the time , listen to the two experienced consultants, and do it right this time.

I really dont see the point. There are no slam dunk options at head coach or at GM this offseason.

Realistically Woody, Casserly and Wolf have just as much of a chance in picking a good coach as a dart board thrower GM's first time around.

Hire the GM then let the GM hire the coach. Unless Marrone is the next Vince Lombardi, wait. Let Woody's experts do their job.

Why does picking a GM first make a suggestion. They will pick someone they prefer. It doesn't mean that person is a good coach.

You can hire a coach before a GM. That coach can then have input into who he wants to be his GM. It can go both ways, the coach just has more power in that scenario.

There is no exact science to it.

Normal teams hire the GM, who hires the coach because he has more authority, the Jets are not a normal team

Exactly. What GM wants to come in with a new coach who was forced on him? It just makes no sense (which always applies to this tea
