...did they pass up their chance at a franchise QB. Wentz sure looked good against them. 60 CMP% 278 YDS 2 TDs 0 INTs 101 Rating They can't win for loosing. Whenever I get in a SOJ mood, I just think of the Browns and it cheers me up.
Pretty sure 99% of the fanbase in Cleveland is hoping Wentz is a bust. It would be a colossal disaster if he turns out to be at least David Carr good
If he pans out, Cleveland would have the distinction of passing on Big Ben and the second coming thereof.
Except they will probably get deshaun watson next year and their hope will be restored. We on the other hand will be drafting in no mans land once again
Robert Griffin III put on injured reserve with shoulder injury Fucking hell, that franchise... Being a Jets fan leaves me feeling pissed off more often than not...but I'm not a Browns fans. Thank god (though if I was born in Cleveland at least I'd have the Cavs to celebrate, and not the Knicks...)
I think he might be. But if you don't like him enter your favorite qb prospects name in there. The point still holds true
But they revolutionized drafting! Or at least that's what I was told during the draft. In fairness it's definitely revolutionary to pass on a potential franchise QB when you don't have one.
In the loaded 2014 draft, Cleveland's terrible front office could have stayed in their spots and easily selected Kalil Mack and David Carr. Instead, they traded back twice only to select Justin Gilbert and Johnny Manzel, both no longer with the team. My dad is a Browns fan and weeps seeing anyone wearing Black and Silver, thinking what could have been. Probably 2 early to tell on Wentz, but early returns not looking good for the Browns once again.
They have the worst defense in the leaue and will be starting McCown. They'll pick first and take Kizer/Watson/ have another top ten pick in a loaded draft.
I'd side with Cleveland on that trade. The Eagles traded three top 100 picks in 2016, a first round pick in 2017, and a second round pick in 2018 in order to move up in the draft order and get him. This is a red-shirt year for the entire Cleveland Browns team. They'll be going top 5 pick again in 2017. And around that time, someone unheard of will likely rise up the charts & be there available when they pick (similar to what happened with Carson Wentz in 2015/2016).
It's hard to side with anything the Browns ownership or management have done recently, especially in Jimmy Haslam who has done absolutely nothing right since taking over the franchise. In theory you're probably right about trading back to collect picks. However, the problem is you gotta hit on those picks you traded back for and over the last 5 years, Cleveland's been horrendous in the draft.
No way McCown will make it even two more weeks if he continues to take the kind of beating he took today against the Ravens. It was like watching a snuff film every time he dropped back. I'd bet my house by the time we go into Cleveland, rookie Cody Kessler will be starting.
