Or is the team stuck paying him $14.2 million in 2019?

    That cost us Clark.

Now I'm reading that Houston is shopping Clowney ya know MacCagnan would love to add him.

But ya can't with a $14.2 million albatross around your neck.

Clark is the last guy I wanted to see on the Jets. I hope we keep Williams and see what he can do with the other Williams who is now a NY Jets.

Lol. If the Jets wanted to add Clark for real a 1 year 5th year option wouldn’t stop it by a long shot. NFL contracts are all about long term, so if the Jets want anyone signed and aren’t interested in keeping Leo long term it has essentially no influence.

I wonder what blue chip DT will be at the top of Matt Miller's big board in 3 years.

I don’t thinks so. Lots of cap space going forward wouldn’t be surprised if he gets tag if they don’t work out a deal quickly.

A lot of football people think Leonard is pretty good. Personally I do not see it, but I am not a scout or a DLine coach. Fan's eye view

I’m sorry, but Leonard completely gets the “played for Bowles benefit of the doubt” from me. Give him a year under a competent coaching staff before we write him off.

On the open market, coming off the season he just had, I think he'd be lucky to get half of what the Jets are paying him in 2019.

I hate how this scrub is stealing Quinnen's thunder.

Somehow the media can't seem to write about the Jets drafting Quinnen without adding

    "to pair with Leonard Williams"

    HAHAHAHA!!!!

Have you seen him up play up close?

I've seen him up close at training camp for years and I can assure you he's better than any other DL we've had on the roster with him.

Cannot wait to see Q. in camp in comparison to L.

Watch the Mac presser, they intend to have both Williams on the field at the same time.

What do you think the likelihood is that William's agent agreed to a term that gave the Jets the ability to retract the option once they picked it up? What would be the ramification of such an asinine term? Jets pick up the option during the first part of free agency, Williams believes he is getting paid, other teams exhaust their available cap space, then Jets retract their option, leaving Williams a FA at a period in which teams can't bid up his services because they have paid other players.

What agent would ever agree to a term that allowed such a dynamic to occur?
