It's strange but we've watched, on at least two occasions (GB and Buffalo is all I can think of. You're welcome to add to the list) when the Jets OL have had a very dominant drive pretty much running the football exclusively. Both times have occurred late in games. But can they put together 4 quarters of that dominance? I'm not talking about 4 quarters of running the football, I'm talking a dominant performance over an entire game from the OL. Because the fact is, we sure could use it tomorrow. If the Jets can run the football and put on a sustained rushing attack for 4 quarters that blows up any plans Bellichick has for winning. We all know the patsies defensive plan will be to shut down the rushing attack and make Zach have to win the game. If the offense can run the ball tomorrow, Bellichick and the patsies will die a slow death starting in the 1st quarter....
My impression is to run the ball successfully we will need to first successfully throw the ball down the field similar to what Zach did the first 28 minutes of the last game against the Pats. The Pats will force Zach to beat them 1st similar to what the Dolphins did until Zach made them pay and forced them to play him more honestly.
LeFleur cannot abandon the run if the first several tries don't yield big yards. The idea should be to keep Zach in 3rd and shorts instead of 3rd and longs. This cannot be a 15 run/ 41 pass day no matter what Belichek comes up with on defense. The idea with the power running game is to impose your will on the defense and that's exactly what the Jets have to do even if it takes 2qtrs or more. I would run right at Judon all day long just to wear his ass out by the 4th qtr.
You don’t get to run the ball consistently particularly early in the game against a good D that will stack the box with eight studs. First, slow them down offensively, make it earn it. Mix it up a bit early on offense with plays that Zach is most confortable with. Wear the fucking defense down, and then in the fourth when they are good and tired run them into the ground. Get to Jones and get him out of his game.
It’s a silly ask because as soon as you have one -2 to 1 yard gain on first or second down, the complexion of the drive completely changes. The Jets line has been pretty good since halftime of the Steelers game.
