i read this somewhere "If he had not played at Vandy, Cutler would get a lot more publicity"

but then i thought, if he had not played at vandy and say he played for a top 10 team, i think he would have sucked. of course hes gonna tear up schools like kentucky and midd. tennesee st but i just dont know....

    2005
    Cutler vs #11 LSU LOSS
    11-32 113 yds 0 tds 2 ints 5 sacks

    Cutler vs #5 Georgia LOSS
    15-28 174 yds 1 td 1 int 4 sacks

    2004
    Cutler vs #8 Georgia LOSS
    12-22 133 yds 0 tds 0 ints 3 sacks

    Cutler vs #18 LSU LOSS

I can make a debate to that...

Those 4 teams are all top 18 teams and Vanderbilt is a BAD football team.

Jay Cutler may have had those bad games against those teams, but I don't think it was because of a lack of skill on his part...

Check out the teams he played against his last three games of this past season...

Look at his overall stats for the entire year and tell me what you think he might have done with USC...

His stats were actually still impressive considering his team...

I agree with you, I don't want him at all. I don't want young either. If the Jets don't draft D Brick or a defensive player, expect these high picks for many years to come because both those guys will be busts. Look at Vick, he is often hurt, and puts up big numbers running shit for passing. Cutler is just not worth a pick that high, he lit up bad teams but got destroyed when he played good teams, and he didn't do much better in the senior bowl.

Either make our D elite, of give us a solid o-line, if not this team won't get much better.

ok... but if he played for USC he would have been seeing much better defenses as well. and looking at his games against those better defenses he did poorly. now maybe if he was throwing to dwayne jarrett and guys like that he could have done better but i just dont know....

Someone told me the reason he is so inacurrate and has such trouble throwing the deep ball is his mechanics, which can be fixed in twelve seconds.

    I'm not buying that.

So you can 100% say that Ferguson is gonna be a franchise LT and be all-pro for the next 15 years? im just curious since you can see vince young and cutler are 100% bust

Your right but next years draft is full of great running backs like Peterson, Bush, Hart, Walker. All those guys are Juniors and Seniors. Bush is a lendale clone and deangelo makes me nervious because he hasn't played against great teams and he's to small to take the hits, i just don't know if he'll make a good NFL running back. If we traded down and picked these guys up than i would be happy but if not than a huge no to that idea. With the 4th pick the Jets will draft no one other than MArio Williams, A.J. Hawk, or D Brick

it was jeff fisher that said about his Mechanics . followed it up by saying what qb doesnt come out with mechanic problems. this is the nfl. cutler isnt coming out with anymore problems than any other qb. his arm is stronger than young's and linehart

A QB with problems should not be drafted in the top 4. Arm strength does not make a good NFL QB. It doesn't hurt, but you can be good without a rocket. Ask Ryan Leaf and others what they think their arm strength got them.

    the said the samething bout

Bryant Mckinnie (never gave up a sack in college)
    Mike williams
Robert Gallary (who while has played 16 games isnt playing the position he was drafted that high too.

all im tryna say is in the draft nothing is a gurantee. its a gamble from pick 1 to the last pick

Ok D Brick will be a franchise LT in the right system. Everyone thinks that Gallery was a bust but he was playing RT in the zone blocking system, he is in his best at LT in a man blocking system. If you don't know the difference zone blocking system involves smaller quicker lineman who get on blocks quick and seal off their man and let the back find a hole, where as man blocking system involves big strong lineman who just get on their man and drive the shit out of him, like teh Steelers do. D Bick will be great in the zone blocking system because he's lighting quick and can dominate in the passing game, the major knocks on him is that he can't drive block well and is a bit undersized but in the zone system he isn't asked to drive players. I think we will run the zone, becuase that's what the Chargers run and thats were Schottinhimer (sp? sorry) is from.

so you dont think linehart and young need there mechanics refined for the nfl? you dont think big ben , eli manning and every other rookie qb that has come into the nfl a top 5 pick never had there mechanics and footwoork refined?

The guy that played the best against top 25 teams was Whitehurst. Whitehurst out played Cutler at the senior bowl and all year long. Whitehurst has the strong arm and is 1-1/2 inches taller.

Best of all a contract for Whitehurst selected in the 3rd round would average $500,000 for the five years, while Culter at #4 will average $7 million a year. We can't afford Cutler.

Beware the guys that shoots up the draft charts in Febuary. We already were swindled with Robertson.
