heres your confirmation http://profootballfocus.com/by_posi...e=r&runpass=&teamid=-1&numsnaps=25&numgames=1 Sort by NFL rating Id actually bet that this chart was made from their data
I have an honest question. What does "plays defended" really mean? Is it the amount of balls he knock downed?
I think you might mean Passes Defensed. I had an exchange with the guy that runs PFF about the discrepancy between the official counts of PD for Revis and Charles Woodson, actually. The NFL stats show Revis with 32 and Woodson with 18, PFF counted 23 for Revis and 8 for Woodson. When I questioned the site about it, I got this response:
What's really surprising to me about this is the number of times he's been thrown at. I guess that's what happens when the opposing QB sees his best WR in single coverage, but still....it looks like only 2 CBs in the league were thrown at more. If I'm an opposing OC, I don't think I keep trying.
What a ridiculous argument by the guy from PFF. By this argument, since home runs are given as a separate (and well-known) statistic, they shouldn't be included in batting average or on base percentage, since that's "double counting" them. An interception is the ultimate defended pass, and it is idiotic to not include it, and instead force people to add separate numbers themselves to get the number they actually want.
3rd most thrown at, 36% were caught, he is Amazing Lowery allowed 47% of passes thrown his way get caught but the logest played he allowed was 28 yards and was second in the league in QB rating when thrown at with 44.4 to Revis' 32.3. Asomugha seems to be just a little bit over rated too, 21 of the 28 passes thrown towards him were caught, 75% 98.2 QB Rating
