Mort just reported on Sportscenter that the Jets didn't turn in the Pats for spying, the NFL caught them a few times last year and told them to stop and was prepared to catch them.

Kinda old news. While spygate was going on pretty much everything Mort said was already known by anybody who cared too. Young certainly seemed skeptical as Mort was setting him straight though.

Yeah i saw that.....I guess the student 'betraying' teacher made better news. But most of us on this board already knew that it was NFL security not Mangini that caught them.

It's not old news to most of us. But it is to the Pats fans who continue to call Mangini a Rat.

Well so much for the Mangini being a rat... and this makes Belichick looks 10 times worse....

The NFL catches you, warns you not to do it again then you turn around and do it the first game of the season? They should have suspended him.

Everything Mort said was pretty widely reported after the Jets blew the whistle. Hell, I probably read about most of it on this board.

In what way is fining Belichick the maximum amount of money allowed under league rules and then taking away what may have been a very good player for years to come a slap on the wrist? 500 grand, and a first round pick? Sure, having a bottom of the round pick doesn't sound that valuable, but Login Mankins, Ben Watson, Vince Wilfork, and Maroney are all guys taken in the bottom third of the draft that have turned into very dependable (well mostly, some are great- see Wilfork and the jury is still out on others- see Maroney). The point is that loosing the (probably) 32nd pick is certainly not a slap on the wrist.

Please...you guys don't even value the draft. 500 grand is peanuts, and i'm sure Kraft paid that with a smile on his face. Also you guys were warned before and other teams have reported you guys....Known cheaters got a slap on the wrist.

I know. I was referring to the numerous amount of Pats fans who continue to call Mangini a rat.

What? The Patriots don't value the draft? Really? That would be bizarre if a team that didn't value the draft still managed to overcome their apathy during draft season and come away with so much talent. It's not a coincidence that the core of this team is built around its drafted players (Wilfork, Brady, Maroney, Samuel, James Sanders , Seymour, Warren, Watson, ect) or maybe it is since you so brilliantly pointed out that "you guys don't even value the draft."

FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS IS PEANUTS ?!?! First off, I would never trust my money within a 10,000 foot radius of you. Second, how much were they supposed to fine him? Were they supposed to break the rules and go past the league maximum?

How does that prove that the penalty wasn't severe enough? Suspending BB wouldn't really do anything at all other than make the Patriots really really uber pissed, and a 1st round pick is plenty enough to take away at least one would-be solid player (given the drafting success of BB) for years.

Because it wasn't a big deal. How many time do we need to explain this to you JET's fans? Every team did it. Bill Belichick just was a bit more obvious about it. I bet he didn't even bother to open the damn "warning" letter from the league. He probably said "Another letter from those imbeciles! Just toss it out. Don't bother opening it". You morons keep whining like we shot someone. It was no big deal and the fines were way out of proportion to the offence.

So clever and funny! If there is anybody out there who doesn't get it it's funny because it makes fun of Mangini's name and makes Mangini sound like a vagina! So funny!!!

I agree! He should be raped, shot, and killed for being coach of the New York Jets.
