http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/20...vin_pace_its_going_to_be_a_good_year_man.html * hopefully not from watching you ummmm....... go blind
He's old and barnes is back so he will play less downs & he ust got resigned. of course he's happy lol.
Yup, If I recall correctly Barnes is merely a change of Pace back. get it? see what i did there? I'm fukin hilarious. Despite being a surprisingly capable OLB at this stage of his career Pace SHOULD play less over the next two years. My hope is that Reilly takes over eventually, I'd like to see him get reps in obvious passing situations in his rookie year.
When OLBrs lose a step with age they become a 2-down back, coming off the field on 3rd downs. But Pace has already lost his ability to stop the run, so maybe he'll just come in on passing downs against slow, immobile QBs? TBH, Pace did not play well last year and I surprised Idzik brought him back.
In what way has Pace lost his ability to stop the run? I'm lost by that comment. If you are referring to making tackles in space or disrupting plays behind the LOS..I guess I can buy that..but he's still very good at setting the edge which is a hard skill to find in the NFL & a Must in Rex's D. Bottom line is the #1 run D in the NFL doesn't lie.You can't stop the run in Rex's D w/o a hard edge so Pace must've done something right last season
Pace is the worse run stuffer on the team. Of his 600+ snaps he only managed to get into the backfield like 35 times last season. I think Richardson did that on a weekly basis. It's hard to stuff a run or tackle for a loss if you can't get past your 1/1 coverage. Plus he lost his legs to tackle or cover in space about 5 years ago. And his 10.5 sacks are also an anonymity. Beyond those sacks he only had about 15 QB pressures all season. Pace was NOT a disruptive force in the backfield last year. Pace is a product of playing next to Sheldon or MoWilk. He's like the retard that sat next to the smartest kid in the room and aced the final. As long as we have Sheldon and MoWilk on either side of the line, I'd love to see a Rookie with speed and young legs take over that spot and see how he does.
I'm gonna need to re-watch Pace, to see if this assessment adds up. Bart Scott apparently says otherwise. http://www.jetsinsider.com/blogs/christopher_nimbley/?p=3378
Stuffing the run is not an accurate description of Pace's responsibilities and assignments in the Jets' defensive scheme so to place such critical emphasis on his being the "worse run stuffer on the team" is about as relevant as Nick Mangold being "the worst" (or is it wurst?) receiver on the team. It's great if and when it happens but it is not really his job. Huh? I'm guessing you perhaps don't really understand where Pace lines up to play and exactly what his job responsibilities are which in fact are quite different from Mo's and Sheldon's....... Ah-ha. Perhaps this is something you really do understand something about. Are you basing this comparative viewpoint on your own personal and first-hand test taking experience here?
Some posters I can just read their handle and then disregard their entire post as garbage. For example, Footballgod.
Pace was most definitely the beneficiary of having the guy next to him demand double teams. He rarely made it into the backfield and was not a disruptive force that other teams had to game for. Teams were far more worried about the Sons and his inflated stats show this. And yes, I know a lot about sitting next to the smartest guy in class and cheating b/c I was that smartest guy. Come test time I'd have a cheerleader on either side of me.
If me saying Pace is done and lucked into his sack numbers due to single teams and a dominating D-Line playing lights out next to him is 'garbage' then Pace must be on your fantasy team, right? Of course not b/c we all know Pace is done, spent, old. It's just you're too much a pussy to say it, or you don't watch the games. Next up: Harris
