This is what the Bears do to QBs! Do you really think that plugging another QB in there would have won the game. No QB on the Jets roster could have won it. And there might be a couple of QBs in the entire NFL that could have won that game with the Jets offense. Face the fact that the team is not championship caliber..yet! But we are close! On offense we need a TE that is able to get open as well as run block, some better run blockers on the line, and a fullback that is able to run block as well as make plays in the passing game would be nice. I don't even know if drafting a premeir back will be necessary if those other parts are in place. The defense has been awesome the last two weeks, if that continues everything will be fine. If the other pieces of the puzzle are in place it won't matter if it's Pennington or Clemen's the team will be a legitimate SB contender in 07; 08 at the latest.
dude Chad has sucked for a month now, not just against the bears...hes got one td pass in the last 4 games...and that was a jump ball to cotch. The guy sucks. 11 picks, 10 TDs=brutal by anyones standards
Another QB mighthave won thatgame yesterday if that said QB doesn't.. 1. Stare at one option in the end zone while ignoring another completely wide open option.. 2. Throw the ball away all the way across the field without looking. Two major mental mistakes that cost us the game..
Last 4 games? That would involve the Lions game with the sweet play action touchdown to Justin McCareins.
It's true that seconds before the throw, Penny didn't look to his left where Coles was, but in all fairness to Penny, Coles didn't get open until well into the play (when he was in the end zone and was covered, but then ran around to his left and came back toward the goal line and made himself open at that point), but I think that was already too late, as Penny was then committed to throwing to his right. And don't forget that Penny was rushed pretty much so he wasn't going to have all day with this throw. But when he decided to throw, Penny never saw Urlacher, who was studying him the whole time, and Urlacher actually started moving to his left while Penny was cocked and the ball began coming out. Penny later said he never saw Urlacher moving over until after the ball came out. But hey, nobody's perfect and shit happens. Before this season, Penny had 47 TD's in the red zone and no INT's, so I think it's a bit unfair of us to jump all over the guy over one game.
1. There is no arguing with 1. That was just a bad descision. If he couldn't get it to Coles he should have thrown it away. Even Peyton Manning make bad choices, yesterday he threw it away on 4th and goal! 2. That was also the athletiscism of the player that made the interception. All day there were plays that should of been big gains based on the set up and blocking and the Bears defensive players just made great plays. A rookie QB like Clemens would likely have 5 ints versus that D! Chad has struggled lately but he really only has two reliable receiving options in Coles and Cotch. A good defense can easily take away two guys. Washington and Smith seem like they should be able to contribute to the passing game but they don't yet, and Baker and Askew cetainly cannot be relied upon! Furthermore there are short yardage situations when the Jets are forced to throw because the line does not get enough push agianst a good D-line. The Jets are what they are a good team just not an elite one yet. There are very few elite QBs out there and you can't count on getting one! The Bears are 9-1 with Rex Grossman for crying out loud! Trent Dilfer, Rob Johnson and Doug Williams have one superbowls! Dan Marino and Peyton Manning haven't. This team is on the right track and I believe Mangini will have them in position to win it all in the next couple years with Pennington or with a well prepared Clemens. It's just not happening this year and it's time to get over it!
The Bears D forces you to underthrow and overthrow to open WRs when you're not even being pressured? Usually the Bears get a lot more pressure on the QB, and the recievers are covered, that's why they're good. But the Jets O-line stepped up pretty much all day, and since the Bears weren't playing with a lead most of the game, they just chose to gear in on the run and short passes, leaving the deep outs open all game. Most of the QBs in the NFL would have won that game. The Bears either usually play better D, or the teams they've been playing have been absolute garbage, because that was not a D that should shut out a decent offense. Actually, what are we, the second shutout they've gotten all season? They're good, but they're not that good. How come everyone else can score against them? Yeah, rookie QBs can't play the Bears D. I think Leinart had 5 INTs and no scores. You know, that Leinart guy, who hasn't won a game all season, and managed to lose to Oakland. We're never going to get anywhere with Pennington. He will always be able to usually barely be able to beat the teams we're supposed to beat, occasionally beat a team that is at about the same level as us, and pretty much ALWAYS lose to a better team. It doesn't matter what the rest of the team does, the rest of the team can play superior football to the other team, but Pennington will not do a thing. In this way, his supporters are busy defending him, and pointing to wins over very weak teams, and occasionally over teams about as talented as us. I stopped caring, I've resigned myself to this. I'm stupid for being a Jets fan, this is the only team in the league that would put up with this type of performance at QB.
If Chad wins, noone complains, when he loses, he sucks and you all complain. You bozos confuse even yourselves.
Wow, bizarre. What I said was something I've said elsewhere, that it hasn't only been 3 games. Chad has 6 TDs and 10 INTs in the past 8 games, which is not a good performance by anyone's standards. If the goal is to make the playoffs, Pennington will, and should, stay in there, but he has been extremely uneven for two months, and hasn't really had an exceptional game since week 2.
