Bet I got your attention. And no, Caleb's not his secret illegitimate love child or anything. So, with all the stuff flying around about Williams demanding ownership from whoever drafts him, I decided to look up whether he actually did say that or not. Turns out he did and didn't ... sorta. He inquired about it but it turns out that it's not permitted by the NFL. Why am I telling you this? Because one of the recent examples given was Rodgers asking for a stake with the Jets, and the Jets being willing to give it to him to offset some of the money due on his contract. I'm sure many of you already knew this but I had no clue. So a lot of things snap into place now. The most obvious being that a small stake may have been promised to him later, but also some more subtle stuff like why he's willing to groom Zach, why he's so into being a part of the team from the sidelines, why he's so vocal about what they should or shouldn't be doing, and most importantly, why he was willing to take so much less money. Just the thought of having someone who knows football - who cares, who really wants to win, who has enough of a killer instinct and will to win that he's going to the HOF as soon as he's eligible - having a real say on what goes on around here is very exciting to me. Whenever he could be a good front office guy almost doesn't matter - just knowing that Woody would bend over to give him real decision making ability because deep down he's a starstruck fanboy gives me tingles.
Broncos won a SB with Elway at GM. If Rodgers can pull that off one day we’ll need to find a way to get him knighted or something.
I definitely think there is some kind of backdoor deal for Rodgers to take some ownership portion of the Jets when he retires. It will be announced the day he hangs them up Look - his new woman is the Milwaukee Bucks owner's daughter, he sees what that lifestyle is like. He was probably gonna retire, the Jets come calling and now suddenly he is ALL in on the Jets? come on
Can ya blame him? I don't think anyone thought he was coming to the Jets out of the goodness of his heart. ... but he's handled it pretty well and in doing so kinda flipped the narrative on him. The question is how long until he figures out that the Johnson Bros. are 'tards...
Dont blame him at all, I'd want a piece of a team. I think he already knows Johnson is a fool by how he described the courting process on the Punter show on ESPN
Before. He came out of the darkness, said he wanted to play football again because he was angry at Green Bay for writing him off, and then the courtship began in earnest.
