For Maybin, Miller, and 4 other prospects, says Peter Gammons.

The Marlins could be lethal in '09...Not so much this year. And I'm convinced now the Tigers will be serious contenders. Being in that division, more reason for the Twins to trade Johan.

Unless the Marlins get a new owner I wouldn't ever worry about them being lethal. They're too cheap to hold onto even their best players.

Good trade for the Tigers here.

I'm guessing Cabrera will be put in LF, leaving Inge at 3rd base.

They say he will play 3rd, leaving Inge on the outside looking in. This has to make Detroit one of the favorites for next year.

The Tigers are loaded, Mags, Sheff, Cabrera, Renteria, Granderson and Pudge.

A rotation of Willis, Verlander, Rogers, Bonderman, and Robertson.

Detroit and the Sox will be tough to beat

Angels too if they go after Santana now. Of course the Yankees are always hard to beat (until the playoffs).

In '97 and '03 though, they put together 1 great year by itself. This trade could be the foundation of that.

There is absolutely no way Cabrera can play LF out in Comerica. He'd be worse than Manny.

This is true, but I heard that's what might happen, according to M&MD.

Can't expect much from Willis. Maybe the #4 starter after his past two seasons and coming from the NL.

They don't need much though, so it works out.

Willis would be a great DH on his non pitching days.

Yeah, and maybe Detroit can figure out what his problem is. health, mechanics, whatever. It isn't like he hasn't done it before and he is still very young.

I'd be more impressed if they got Sheffield off the team... it's his 2nd year...time for him to become the cancer he's been on every other team he's been on

Tigers are stacked. Willis at this point is expected to be a back of the rotation guy that eats innings but if they can get him fixed that rotation of Verlander Bonderman Robertson Rogers and Willis is pretty nasty. The lineups stacked too. Florida made out well here though they got two guys that many people think are going to be superstars, to go along with the growth of Hanley and some of their other young players. They weren't keeping either Willis or Cabrera.
