http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/04/05/rams-release-marc-bulger/ The Rams released Bulger. I know a lot of fans want a mentor type veteran qb for Sanchez, and Bulger certainly would fit the bill. He's been in the league for a while, has produced at a high level, won a lot of games and also experienced the bumps and bruises a qb can go through. What do you guys think about adding him for a year or 2 and trying to dump Clemens, while keeping Ainge as a 3rd stringer? I think they are grooming Ainge to be the eventual backup anyway, so Clemens is clearly expendable.
LOL I beat you to it bro... And i asked the same question in a different way. I would think O' Connell gets cut and they try and get a 6th for Clemens. I'm sure Bulger is on Tanny's radar as well as ARI and PIT and possibly BUF.
now this a move i can get behind. experienced vet who has had success in his career and can help sanchez work through any problems. the question is does another team give him a chance to start?
i've mentioned Bulger in previous threads....he'd be an excellent backup/mentor to Sanchez. Plus...Bulger has that connection with H.Ellard (Jets WR coach)....i hope we take a look at him.
Not really.. they already brought in Anderson to compete with Leinart. I think they're pretty set. I doubt anybody is gonna bring him in and let him be the starter. He's better off taking a mentor/backup type job for a season and try to see if he can get a shot at a starting job next year. Plus he can use the break from getting pummeled and losing every game.. he might want to get on a winning team for a little while and regroup his career. Kinda like David Carr did.
I could'nt understand getting O'Connell when we traded for him. I think we gave a 7th rd'r for him. That being said i wouldn't expect us to cut him. Bulger would be a great veteran addition. I think Clemens should be the one to go over Ainge and O'Connell but i'm not sure we'd keep 3 bu QB's again this season. It will be interesting to see how this pans out.
i think this would be a pretty smart move. bulger is still a marginal starting qb, high level backup in this league. he would be a very good insurance policy in case sancheese gets injured or throws 20 interceptions again.
how so? they already have Leinart and Anderson. unless they cut Leinart, all they would be doing is signing him to be the third string?
Bulger will ask for too much money as a backup. Definitely not $5-6 mils but I would think he would want like $2mil a yr. He's not finished so I wouldn't be opposed to it at all.
If Bulger values his life...he won't go to a team like Chicago...whose oline is a piece of swiss cheese.
Your joking, right? Sanchez has already surpassed anything Bulger has done. Might as well keep Clemens as the backup!!!
Definitely in favor of getting Bulger to replace Clemens. Sanchez needs a veteran QB to help prevent future mistakes and just to talk about past experiences on what he can expect during X situation or Y defense and just being a QB in the NFL. What the hell does Sanchez and Clemens have to talk about? Sanchez has more passing attempts in his rookie year then Clemens has in his entire career!!! Clemens probably has already passed on whatever limited experiences he has had to Mark.
has he surpassed the ability to get injured? what an absurd fanboy post. while i am still not 100% convinced he will be great i can at least see what is going on in the real world. this post just screams fanboy.
I think Anderson isn't an NFL caliber QB... I'm not sure of the terms of the contract DA signed for the CArds but I'm sure they wouldn't throw away too much money but cutting him at the end of TC...
