From UCLA might be a steal fro someone in the mid-rounds, he played DE, but is switching to OLB, trying to become a merriman type for the 3-4. Scott Wright of NFl draft Countdown had some nice things to say about him in his senior bowl coverage.
isn't he undersized....i believe that is his biggest flaw because he is fast and has a nice pass rush...hes just too light
no hes a undersized outside linebacker...i thought he played linebacker in college...he's 6'3...229...hes not big enough for inside lol
Strengths: Very athletic...Good timed speed...Outstanding quickness with a burst to close...A terror off the edge...Very active with a non-stop motor...A team leader with great intangibles...Rangy and makes plays in pursuit...Versatile and has played both DE and OLB...Extremely productive..Would dominate games at times...Nice Bloodlines. Weaknesses: Vastly undersized and desperately needs to bulk up..A liability versus the run and struggles to hold his ground or get a push...Strength is well below average...One trick pony with a meager pass rush repertoire...He racked up a lot of his numbers against weak opponents...Struggles to shed....A 'tweener without a true position. Notes: Father, who's also named Bruce, played at UCLA and was a member of two Super Bowl championship teams as an offensive tackle...Uncle Ronnie also played for the Bruins...A one-dimensional pass rush specialist who will probably have to move to outside linebacker at the next level...Great college player who doesn't project well to the pros...Needs to land in the right situation and best shot may come in a 3-4. i would love to have in him in the mid rounds if he can put on weight
No he played DE in college. I should know. I'm a USC fan and he absolutley killed us last year when we lost to them.
ok i wasnt sure but he still is undersized...he would be good inside linebacker in a 4-3...but i wouldnt mind this pick
Well if he is still available in the latter rounds than hells yeah I would take him I think that maybe he is a little small of a blitz OLB but still if he is a force I wont complain
he played at 229 this season, but was already up to 241 at the senior bowl, i'd guess he gets to maybe 245 or 249 by the combine. 250 is a decent goal as a pro playing weight. that would put him at almost exactly the same size as roosevelt colvin. only 10 pounds lighter than suggs, the same as ware. So really he only needs about 10 pounds or so to be at a good size for an outside LB in the 3-4. The size issues were overrated because everyone was assessing him as a DE where he's need to get to 265 as an absolute minimum.
If he can stay consistently over 240 and he can rush the passer, you've got to take this guy. Not early, and not with great expectations. People get enamored with this diamond in the rough crap. Maybe you get lucky and you get a guy like Elvis Dumervil, and maybe he turns out to be nothing. I wouldn't touch him in the first three rounds, but after that, sure. You can't disregard guys who can get to the quarterback when you have none. -X-
Just because a guy is not a first rounder doesn't mean he's not talented and therefore a diamond in the rough. Davis (like many non-first rounders) is a good talent who just doesn't have elite, first round talent. Dumervil wasn't a sleeper, everyone thought he was a beast pass rusher...his size just threw people off.
