Just heard that on Mike & Mike. Imagine the Browns passing on Garett for Trubisky? That kind of reach would start a domino effect that'll have the Jets 6th pick improving to Mac's 5th best player on the board.

The Browns are just opening the door for a team to offer them a trade package that is historic and unbelievable. Short of that, they'll still take Garrett.

yep it a total smokescreen to get someone to sell the farm for their pick. Also Trubisky is from Cleveland, OH so this smokescreen scores some points with the locals getting them to believe they are putting serious thought into the local kid.

Remember when Leonard Williams was supposed to go No. 1 overall in the 2015 NFL DRAFT?

    1. TAM - Jameis Winston
    2. TEN - Marcus Mariota
    3. JAX - Dante Fowler
    4. OAK - Amari Cooper
    5. WAS - Brandon Scherff
    6. NYJ - Leonard Williams

Imagine the upcoming 2017 NFL DRAFT being shades of 2015?

If it happened we'd be dancing in the street but I wouldn't hold your breath. He won't make it past SF if the Browns are insane enough to roll dice on Trubisky with the first pick. I don't think they are even considering it.

Definitely a smoke-screen, no way in hell do they take Mitchell at #1, they are trying to pawn the pick and rape a team in a trade. Looking at that 2015 draft, I bet the Jags are kicking themselves for taking Fowler over Williams.

I agree with other posters, smokescreen acquire a mountain of picks for next year and acquire a Darnold type talent next year with the assets they have. Not a bad idea but also passing on Garret is a bit of a head scratcher.

BTW did anyone see Gruden's QB camp with Mitchell? He barely knows snap counts.

Nope nope nope, stay far far away if you are the Jets.

I think a qb Mac would have interest in taking 1st round would have to have a good football IQ. If Trubisky does not show that I think the jets will pass. His lack of playing time does not help.

serious question for the college football gurus but is there any real risk that Garret is the second coming of Vernon Gholston?

Browns sending smoke for the top pick is futile, because none of the draft prospects this year are worth moving up for the No. 1 overall pick. Garett's agent will likely have his media sources blow smoke now.

There are plenty of winning QBs in college. It does not correlate to success.

False. Outside of Winston and Newton [who were in the BCS era] there are barely any QBs that won a national title that went on to be winners at the next level. Matt Leinart? Vince Young? Tebow? Chris Leak a personal favorite of mine? Yeah right!

Success in college doesn't mean you have to win the national championship. Bottom line there's nothing FAKE about Watson in the big games. He's a winner. Can't teach that.

If you look at the successful qbs in the league right now, all from lesser schools and they didn't have a lot of nfl talent around them. They didn't gave the best player on the field with them to bail them out. Thats why I'm not as high on watson as i was right after the championship.
