... a week after naming him the starter for the rest of the season. A TMZ video emerged of him partying and drinking during the bye week (he spent all of February in rehab). Austin Davis will be the backup QB, Manziel will be third string and likely inactive. The Browns picked him over Teddy Bridgewater and Derek Carr.
I guess when he texted the Browns to draft him and "destroy the league" he really just meant that they could draft him and he would destroy his liver.
I dont get it. The Browns KNEW he had this baggage when they drafted him. So if you're gonna essentially waste a pick on a guy that high in the draft , shouldnt you atleast accept that he is as advertised?
Its Manziel's own fault he sucks in the NFL but I will say Cleveland was probably the absolute worst place for him to go so that organization has no one to blame but themselves so I in no way feel sorry for them. You don't draft a small, soft QB when you play in the cold weather, hard hitting AFC North. You don't draft a QB that needs time to adjust to the NFL when your organization and city is desperate for a QB You don't pair an undisciplined QB up with a no nonsense old school guy like Pettine A guy with questionable desire doesn't belong with blue collar Cleveland. it was a disaster waiting to happen from day 1 Manziel is trash though so its his own fault. I've seen lots of young QBs and this kid blows.I mean he really sucks. I'd take Robert Griffin over him. The best case scenario for him would've been to go to a domed team with an established starter and a good team overall where he could've sat and learned. Even then you'd have to wonder about him ever growing up, and if he was even big/tough enough for the NFL. I wouldn't be surprised if he hangs up his cleats very soon, honestly.. what does he care about football at this point? he doesn't need money, he's already a football God in his home state, he obviously sees football as a secondary priority...
Sign this beast! Actually I'd be ok with taking him on for a 6th or 7th with a conditional upgrade. We've seen the ceilings for those QB's likely to be anywhere near available next year and next years draft isn't stocked with bankable stars. JM's had 5(?) games and unlike our current back-up he's actually shown some progression from day 1 (albeit nowhere near starting material) and if our safe veteran (Fitz?) goes down, struggles or gets pulled and we still consider Petty as unready then he's probably not the worst QB you could put on the field. He is in fact the very definition of a boom/bust, impact position player that you'd burn a late pick on. If he still bombs out, parties to distraction or ends up on the NFL substance program then it doesn't matter as Bryce should be ready to hit the field.
Let's not touch him. He'll do terrible here. On and off the field. Sent from my LG-LS720 using Tapatalk
Actually the Jets are probably the worst place he could have gone. He'd be party boy central in NYC, he would have started week 1 and gotten his ass handed to him every week, the NYJ beat writers would have ripped him to shreds... He'd probably be sucking cock for crack by now.
that's what the Browns do, although in fairness, almost every team had Manziel rated higher than that duo
http://www.blogtalkradio.com/rotounderworld/2015/10/20/who-is-rob-barnkowski "Gary Barnidge has out-produced Rob Gronkowski more often than Rob Gronkowski has out-produced Gary Barnidge." not at all surprising I draft Gronk every week and every week he's stunk
I'd say 50-50, but Barnidge is a better value for sure. Especially now that Gronk will have 2 or 3 on him constantly...
I always thought Manziel was going to be a good NFL QB. But I also always thought that when he came into the NFL he would growup. That simply hasn't happened.
Are you kidding me? He's going to come to NYC, party town USA, and get straightened out? The circus would be back full force. I wouldn't waste any draft pick on him, because it would be wasting the pick. Lots of great players in the NFL have been taken with 5th - 7th round picks. I wouldn't take him if the Browns offered to give us a 5th-7th round draft pick to take him off their hands. I wouldn't take him if they offered us a 1st round pick either if we had to keep him on the roster for a season. He would be a HUGE distraction. He's white trash and not worth it. He's from money, but is an alcoholic, has no respect for himself, his talent, or the game. As much as I like Mac so far, if he were to trade for Manziel, I'd want him fired immediately. SMH
He was literally living in the park when Orr stepped up. I read Derek's autobiography. Good read for about 3 quarters of it. He gets a bit too preachy for me with the born again stuff late in the book, but I understand that guys who are as far gone as he was need something like that to not end up dead. I have friends who've gone either way.
