Kenny Britt's numbers over the past two years, and this was with Mike Teel at QB, not Dan Fouts 2007: 13 GP - 62 Rec - 1,232 Yards - 19.9 YPC - 8 TD's 2008: 12 GP - 87 Rec - 1,371 Yards - 15.8 YPC - 7 TD's TOTAL: 25 GP - 149 Rec - 2,603 Yards - 15 TD's ======= Now lets look at Darrius Heyward-Bey over that same two year span 2007: 13 GP - 51 Rec - 786 Yards - 15.4 YPC - 3 TD's 2008: 12 GP - 42 Rec - 609 Yards - 14.5 YPC - 5 TD's TOTAL: 25 GP - 93 Rec - 1,395 Yards - 8 TD's ======= So basically ONE of Kenny Britt's seasons = TWO of DHB's hmy:
Jabba....You're preaching to the choir. I've been saying it for a while, DHB work is limited, and he's a very raw product. People see 4.3 time and have tunnel vision and don't notice his lack of football skills. I know you remember Johnny Lam Jones!!
yeah but Britt has like 3 inches DHB.. i didnt realize how stacked Britts numbers were.. where is he projected to go?? Cause i remember something like mid second round...
Jimmy the Greek's infamous quote when the Jets drafted Lam Jones, and he was NOT being facitious ... "THE NEW YORK JETS JUST WON THE SUPER BOWL" He really said that and he really meant it :grin:
The draft advisory committee told Britt he was a likely first round pick when he was deciding whether or not to declare, and right now I think most reputable draft sites are projecting Britt in the bottom quarter of round one
Britt's moving up a bit but he's high second. He definitely won't fall to us in the second but he may go a bit below our first.
Late Rd 1 or Early Rd 2............Britt should go ahead of DHB, but some knucklehead team will fall in love with DHB's 40 time and DHB will be drafted ahead of Britt.....let's hope its not the Jets. The NY Giants are a strong possiblity for Britt.
DHB is really a wildcard, on the one hand I want us to draft him and on the other not. However if he pans out he will be the best WR from this class, yes better than Crabtree.
Kenny Britt reminds me of another BIG WR who came out of New York .. John Taylor .. and I think the world of John Taylor .. if he didn't blow out his knee I think he was well on his way to super-stardom much like Terrell Owens who also played opposite Jerry Rice at the outset, only John Taylor (much like Kenny Britt) was a class act as well
WOW, that's a bold statement, but its not impossible .. I like when people think outside the box and challenge conventional wisdom if they really believe it, so I respect that you would express that point of view I love Crabtree, but I like that you would go to bat for Nicks
At the beginning, all Crabtree really had was his "size" and his production - turns out Crab's not 6'3, he's 6'1. His production is still there, but it's SO great because of Tech's fun 'n gun system. A system receiver? Nicks now has similar size to Crab and he seems to be just as fast. Hakeem Nicks has the best hands in the draft...by far. He's better after the catch, and he's more physical. Mike Crabtree played in a system that pumped up his stats. Crab ran a lot of spread routes - not many basic NFL routes. He loses focus in many games and drops a lot of passes - I think his hands are very, very solid, but his head isn't always there. The guy rarely gets separation at the college level - it'll be much harder in the pros. Neither is much of a vertical threat. In the end, Nicks is much more polished and more NFL ready. It's my opinion. I'd rather have Hakeem Nicks...
MrElectric29 even without the offensive system Crabtree played in his numbers would still be very very good.
I didn't say they wouldn't be - but they definitely wouldn't be as good. Put Crab on a team like UNC or Maryland with mediocre-at-best QB play. I wonder if he'd put up big numbers? or Put Crab on an SEC team and see if he can get open in that conference.
