This is not suprising given his problematic TURNSTILE-19 illness. $7.2mn saved and we enter the Van Roten era.
I’d assume this means they are signing someone unless they just want to give Winters a shot at being in camp with a team he’ll make.
You realize how little these national reporters\talk show hosts really know about the league when they talk about your team...and if you ever needed evidence of how dumb Twitter is read the comments on Schefters Tweet. Lol
Well, maybe something a brewing on the FA signing arena? Well I am personally not sad about this... never lived up to his contract... I suppose he was serviceable at best. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just threw this out there in my group chat among friends, and it almost certainly is not the case but maybe they are trying to inch closer to that $17 million Yannick is making this year... Logan Ryan is the obvious move now that Jamal is gone.
Well, looks like ~13 m cleared in last 2 days, with opt out and cut, also probably some savings by trading Adams, unless McDougled canceled that out. So will have to see what happens, if anything gives team best cap numbers second to Cleveland. So we have flexibility. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well they can only have 80 players in one building. Pretty sure cutting Winters gets them to 80 if you don’t count PUP/NFI guys.
Yeah, the reality is the opposite of Schefter's tweet. Not a shock at all. The shock was how long he remained on the roster in 2020 after Free Agency. He was a good player, but injuries took a toll on his body, and he was not very good the past few seasons. Maybe it means the Jets are signing a player, as mentioned in this thread, but maybe it was just the obvious move to make too. It's also possible the Jets were deciding between Winters and Williamson on who to keep or cut, and the Mosley Opt-Out made it obvious that Williamson was needed.
I think the secondary has enough young talent & niche players for Williams to field a good pass D w whats already in place. The corners are certainly upgradable but Ryan doesnt really move the dial IMO. Think you have to consider a legit edge rusher, either in FA or via trade. Thats the last remaining piece even w.o Mosley or Adams for a competent competitive D. Once addressed its time to fixate on this offense & giving Sam help
The high end pass rush market has gone up to $25+ million per year. Why not get one with one of the 1st rounders next year for 20% of the cost? If Darnold is good, he’ll get in the realm of $30mm per year or even more, you wanna spend $60mm on only two players?
in a perfect world of course we’d rather draft one.But how often have the Jets been in the position to draft an elite cant miss type?Josh Allen..thats pretty much it. Also a high bust rate see Vernon Gholston. Its hard to count on one being there. Its so crucial to winning & team hasnt had one in over a decade. I hate to say it but for this team that price tag is actually worth it if the guy produces & helps close out games. Its time to be bold & cross the need off the wishlist. End the insanity.
Surprised by the timing. I figured once camp started he would be here to compete. I wonder what Joe D has planned
I know I'm the minority with my opinion but I appreciate what we got from Winter's, especially considering who drafted him and where he was drafted. I thought he was serviceable more than not but always upgradable. I wish him well.
At this point and I’m probably in the minority.... I don’t want clowney yannick or Ryan. carry the cap over and get to work w the picks and extra cash.
