http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2009/01/jets_schottenheimer_is_early_f.html My favorite part: "Tannenbaum liked Schottenheimer entering the process but he realizes Schottenheimer could be a tough sell to an angry fan base." No shit...?
that's why i think candidates like Schotty Jr. and Callahan are "last resorts" if the other candidates (like R.Ryan and Spags) fall through.
I think after watching this Baltimore game, watching this defense dominate a team that just beat us has to make Rex Ryan even more of a viable candidate.
I have to be honest, I wouldn't be that upset if he went with Brian. We have 3 young QBs that are going to need continuing development, and he has done some good things here. He has the pedigree. Let's just see how everythign plays out
So the jets score 405 points this season take out the 56 points that they scored against AZ and that leaves us with 349 where does that leave us?
3rd most points in franchise history. Put together an offense that got to the playoffs in 2006 with absolutely no running game. There have been some things that have been upsetting, but Favre did throw a lot of stupid INTs this year that hurt our offense. When he was playing within the system we went on a 5 game winning streak. Yes, there was some playcalling issues at times, but Favre didn't help the offense with the turnovers.
He called TERRIBLE games when it counted. How on earth this guy managed to impress Tanny is beyond me.
Me either. ANd as the article pointed out how can you criticize Spags for not being prepared. He is preparing for HIS TEAM!
You have to factor in the 3 young QBs. If they really like Ratliff and Brian has a good plan to develop him into our future QB, they may want to go with Brian.
Don't forget defensive and special team TDs. But I don't believe in taking out offensive TDs, no matter how big a blowout.
Keep him as the OC then. Their experiment with having a young Xs and Os guy as the Head Coach failed miserably. Why would they think this time would be any different?
I can't disagree with this either. That's why I was kind of leaning towards having Marty come in as the HC for a few seasons and if all goes well then pass the job to Brian.
Yeah, I'm holding onto my belief that we need an experienced head coach to lead this team. And that doesn't exclude Marty, so your scenario could have its benefits.
What in the world is going on in Jets land? I don't see anyone knocking down the door to Interview BS and he is our front runner...there is something really wrong here!!!
the only benefit I see here is continuity most of the players know his offense and we might not risk losing another season learning another offensive scheme
