and maybe MORE after that. That slam he took was totally mishandled by the Jets and a disgrace by the NFL which has penalized Jet DL for breathing on Tom Brady in past years.
Flacco's equally good, so it doesn't change our odds of winning. But it's clear that if we get the #2 pick, we should take Fields. Sam isn't the answer.
This sack netted a roughing the passer call though. Flacco's actually played a better game than Sam's played all year last week as sad as it is.
To be fair, it was also the 1st game when the JETS actually fielded their top 3 WRs in the same game..... (which still ranks pretty low on a league wide level)
Flacco is better for the tank than Darnold. He's a known quantity and with the schedule toughening up again playing him is probably the wiser option. Now that the receivers are healthy Darnold is the best shot at a few wins, an outcome that the Jets should not want at this point.
Hmm, I'm in the other school of thought and think we have a better chance with Flacco. I hope you're right!
yah this was my issue... not even a roughing flag....when other QBs get barely touched and there’s a flag he was literally spun around and slammed into the ground on purpose
I disagree. We need to put Morgan in with or without Darnold. Embrace the tank. Don't jeopardize anything
Yeah, this is not a good news for the tank. I would have felt more comfortable with Sam in the pocket to ensure the loss, but we still have a good chance to maintain #1 spot with Flacco.
Imagine if Flacco, who's not on the team next year, wins 2 or 3 games.....and we fall to 3rd or lower in draft position. Sam comes back (can live with that but not preferred option).....but no chance to trade #1 or #2 pick for a haul.
I can't believe people think this or others have even said Flacco is better. It is ridiculous. Sadly, it is possible. For his own sake, he should not rush back this season. Why Morgan? I say the Jets re-sign Hackenberg. Let's finish this tank the right way!
Flacco's thrown 4 TDs and 2 INTs with a passer rating of 80.6. That's no worse than what Sam's given us during his time here.
Protect a young kid. Let him get 100% and trade a fully fit player next offseason. In the meantime embrace the tank with your old 2nd string QB. I feel sorry for sam that his future in NY everyone can see is now over. Hope his injury is alright! Sent from my SM-G610Y using Tapatalk
I don't think he's likely to play with two other veteran QB's on the roster. A Flacco injury would open up a path however Gase would likely just shuttle Darnold back into the lineup at 80%. NFL head coaches are very conservative about who they are willing to play at QB.
