According to the NFL Network, a very reliable source, Texans have agreed to terms with Mario Williams and intend on selecting him with the 1st Overall selection.
Does anyone know how plausible this type of information has been in previous drafts? Can they be bluffing? EDIT: It's official, he's signed.
The only problem is that I just don't see why the Texans will tell everyone a day before the draft, it just seems like bad draft strategy. Then again, it is the Texans. BTW, this was already posted.
It's FACT. Expect it to hit the airways within the next half hour... It has already been established on NFL Network TV.
Agreed to terms does NOT mean they have Signed him! It just means they are still trying to get Bush's $$$ Down.
Bush is there to be had. Time to make the call to Tangini, Woody, the jersey sales alone will cover his signing bonus.
This is actually pretty common for the team picking first to reach a contract agreement with the first choice, before the draft even begins. However, usually those players are the clear #1's, like Carson Palmer, Alex Smith, Mike Vick. Mario was never the clear cut number 1.
This is a bit unfortunate.... Had the Texans decided on who they chose tomorrow, it would have given teams less time to negotiate trades to move ahead of us... Let's see how the Jets play their cards, but the #2 NO pick just got a whole lot more value... the Top 5 is going to be the most exciting in years. As good as Bush is, and as much as I want him with the Jets, I just hope we don't have to overpay and get absolutely raped in a trade.
There is just no absolute chance. Even if New Orleans does not want him, they realize that he has too much trade value to not work out a trade.
