There goes all of the Mark vs. Jets talk. I am sure Geno won't play either. Probably not Vick too. Looks like Matt Bowl: Simms vs. Barkley this Thursday. Source: Jeff McLane @Jeff_McLane 6m Matt Barkley will start against the Jets. Nick Foles and Mark Sanchez won't play. #Eagles
QB's named MATT, amirite? I don't think he starts, but he should play, he'll get a lot if not ALL of the second half I imagine. This game was meant for his kind of low round status.
I'd like to think Rex learned his lesson last year and keeps his most valuable assets on the sidelines. Simms plays 3/4, Boyd 1/4. I'm not real sure I'd want Simms out there too long with a field full of desperados trying to make an NFL roster.
I'd put Boyd for the whole game to prove without a shadow of a doubt that he should be cut. If he can't run with even 3s -- bye bye
Boyd should play the majority of the game to see what he's got. The kid is going to go on the Practice Squad more than likely.
If Vick and Sanchez truly don't play (which seems likely) it proves they both can still start in the league. You normally don't sit your Back-Up QB's in the final preseason game. In this case, it makes sense, as both have plenty of experience and had pretty good preseasons. With Matt Simms and Tajh Boyd, I think you give both a half. That should clearly show how far ahead Simms is. However, is it really necessary? We all know Simms is better.
If Boyd is heading to the PS he'll have to clear waivers first. If he actually throws a good game It will have it a bit harder to keep him. But I guess that's the nature of it. Sad Nacho ain't playing though. Was looking forward to it.
I agree, but I'm pretty sure Sanchez got hurt in the 3rd preseason game, not the 4th. Albeit it was the 4th quarter and he should never have been in the game, but it's not like he was put in the 4th preseason throwaway game.
IIRC, Rex played started Simms in the 4th game last year and kept him in until the middle of the 4th quarter.
