New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles announced earlier today Josh McCown will start Week 13 against the Kansas City Chiefs. When asked for the rationale behind his decision, Bowles responded, "Petty sucks." As usual, he kept a straight face.
Disappointing Thread of the Year award. I clicked too quick expecting to see Petty. @HomeoftheJets got me.
Who else would he pick. Hackenberg or Petty. No, it's the only chance for the Jets to win and keep his job for the year...and he hopes next year too!
One would think he would want either another look at Petty OR to put the final tombstone on the Hackenberg experiment, if he his job were secured into 2018. However, it could just be that he, like Rex, is way too loyal to his veterans and will stick with McCown until we are mathmatically eliminated from the playoffs, which I'm guessing happens after New Orleans runs all over this team.
Damnit! Thanks for the troll thread, I thought they were making a change when I first saw it. If petty sucks they SHOULD play him. We need a QB in the draft! We can't risk beating KC.
My new line of thinking is that the Jets HAVE ALREADY seen enough of Petty & Hack and NEITHER will be on the 2018 roster and Josh is the QB the rest of the way for 2017. I'm guessing they draft a QB, keep Josh on the CHEAP and pick up a 3rd string SCUB OFF THE STREET for the minimum. This way they only have to focus on developing 1 young QB instead of 2....
Exactly. Petty and Hack were given EVERY rep and EVERY opportunity to win the job in preseason and they failed miserably. The refusal to start them now is a condemnation of their play then and in practice. They are goners and we are starting over at the position ... AGAIN.
And isn't it wonderful that the guy who drafted both Petty and Hackenberg is presumably going to get yet another chance to find a franchise QB? I can't wait to see what he brings in next! Maybe a dead body.
Nothing matters except tanking correctly ...I've wanted this to happen since week 1 There must be some creative force in the universe because this looks like it will play out that way!!! At 4-12 if Dumber and Dumber can't make Dar/Rosen appears in NY it's over for me...like I've said before sweeten the deal with an Offensive HC and ask Bowles to go shrimp Not trying to be arrogant and respect other posters desire to get a win...but you young guys wait 49 years between SB and see how YOU feel As to the game KC is favored by 3 on the road and currently on losing streak like Jets KC features Alex Smith Travis Kielce and K Hunt. The Jets counter with McGown Anderson and Powell. Actually when I checked the matchup stats they were very even ..for example Smith has 2800 passing on the year and Joshy 2500. KC has beaten the Jets twice since 2014 however Of course it will come down to Coaching and the battle of wits will be between Toilet and Andy Reid LMAO , next to Belli one of the best in the business . I found it quite interesting that in their string of recent setbacks Reid steps up at Presser and TAKES FULL RESPONSIBILITY
Catch 22 for good ole coach Bowles - he keeps emphasizing how much McCown gives them the best chance yet no one will remember how close or how some key plays would have reversed it; in the end, it's all about wins & losses. If he sticks with McCown and they continue to lose, how's that going to sit with the org?
