So we gonna keep this guy next season- It became very clear last night that you gotta have some big time receivers to succeed (and a qb but thats a much bigger issue) just trying to assess our situation- Edwards a Jet in 2013?
This post doesn't deserve its own thread, but yes, the majority wished he never left. Draft picks/free agent $ is better spent elsewhere than WR.
I don't think Edwards is a "big time receiver," but I'd keep him for now anyway. You'll have great difficulty convincing a better WR he'll have great success here with the NYJs.
If we are moving forward with Mark Sanchez, then we MUST bring back Braylon Edwards. Even if we are going to go in a different direction, I can't imagine that Braylon is going to be too expensive
Agreed. I find it extremely hard to believe he'd get much more than the vet minimum on the open market.
Braylon should be resigned, he's aggressive and still fights for the ball, we should also resign Clyde Gates. I liked what I saw from him the couple games he has in.
With the wco we need the wr and qb to be on the same page. Just the fact that mark and Edwards have good chemistry makes it worth it to resign him. For vet minimum of course.
great blocker, athletic receiver, inexplicable drops, injury history. Sign him cheap. One year. Or send him on his way. I would still be looking for a real big pay receiver.
Mark would benefit from keeping the same WRs from this year. Plus any QB we throw out there would benefit from a large target like Braylon. I'd keep him even if it takes a 2-3 year low cost deal.
We absolutely need him. He's a guy that ideally would be depth and if Hill isn't stepping up could handle that spot.
One of the most important things in WCO is timing between WR & QB. Although Braylon came to the team very late, Sanchez was still able to successfully throw the ball where he expected Edwards to be. Not sure how long Braylon will be on the roster but I'd expect Jets to give him at least one more season.
Given the $ he can be had for and his talent, I say it's a no brainer. I still see him as a viable #2 receiver.
No I don't think Brylon Edwards will be a Jet next season,Edwards wasa product of Mr.T, Idzick will seebetter talent available in free agency and i agree. Josh Cribbs,Greg Jennings and DannyAmendola are availableand id take anyone of them over Edwards
I'm curious how Idzik feels about Braylon. He was part of that Seattle organization that signed him last season, and then gave up on him late in the season. From my perspective, Braylon is nice depth to have who should come cheaply. He wants to stay here, and he's now had two years in a row where he's signed contracts for peanuts and not produced anything. Don't see how he would command much more than the minimum. Especially if Sanchez is coming back, I think Braylon should return. He's also a good fit because he can be Hill insurance if Hill doesn't develop at all. Then you have Holmes and Kerley out there, and that's a decent WR corps.
