Trade talks between the Giants and Browns centering on WR Braylon Edwards broke off when the Browns asked for WR Steve Smith, The Giant Insider and The Orange and Brown Report reported Sunday.

According to the report, the Giants offered the second- and fifth-round picks acquired from the Saints in the July 2008 trade for TE Jeremy Shockey for Edwards, the Browns' top receiver. However, the Browns also wanted Smith, who caught 57 passes for 574 yards and a TD last season, included in the deal. According to the report, the Giants offered the Browns the choice of Domenik Hixon or Mario Manningham, but Cleveland was not interested.

Edwards, who is entering the final year of his contract, caught 55 passes for 873 yards and three touchdowns.

So would you even consider trading for braylon if it took a 2nd and 5th? What if it took Jericho in addition? Now that we have some idea of what it would take to trade for him, are you still interested?

No way in hell I'd give up Cotch in a deal for Edwards. I think even a 2nd rounder is pushing it, but I wouldn't mind trading for him as long as the CS addressed his dropping problem.

If the Giants don't want Mario Manningham anymore than the Jets should make an offer. Guy was a killer deep threat in college, the Jets could use that.

Already have Stuckey and Clowney, we don't really need more depth, we need a starter.

Hell no. No for a second and a 5th. Hell fucking no if it took Cotch as well. Edwards is a drop machine. Its often cited due to "lack of concentration" while the ball is comming to him. This guy can stay far away from the jets as far as I'm concerned.

If we can do a 2nd, a 5th, and David Clowney/Chansi Stuckey for the Edwards(probably Stuckey since Mangini didn't want to play Clowney last year), I'd pull the trigger. To do it and involve Cotchery and give up the pick that could be his replacement is just stupid. We need two starting WRs in this offense and just because Steve Smith is a starter in NY by default doesn't mean that he's analogous to Cotchery. If the Browns were asking Cotch it should be Edwards and a 5th rounder back to the Jets.

Apparently talks are still on-going between the 2 organizations. I would LOVE for the Giants to have Edwards!
