He takes a lot of heat for the occasional mistake, but he's been our most productive player on offense, and arguably the MVP of our team so far. He's been a machine, and he's on pace for another 100+ catch season. So far, his season stats: 71 - 931 - 9 TD If I'm not mistaken, he's on pace to have the best season ever by a Jets' WR, probably in all 3 categories: catches, yards, and TDs! Both he and Decker drop the ball occasionally, and make mistakes from time to time, but for whatever reason Marshall takes a lot more heat for it. It's time he gets the recognition he deserves around here!
It's going to be hard to beat out Maynard's 1967 season: 102.4 yards a game and 20.2 yards a catch. That's one of the all-time great seasons by a #1 WR. Marshall has a shot though if he has a couple of huge games down the stretch. Looking at Approximate Value Marshall has never had a season like the back-to-back 1967 and 1968 seasons for Maynard. Marshall's highest numbers are 12 and Maynard went 16 and 17 back-to-back.
i feel like a case could be made for pryor, mostly on the difference between him playing and not playing
I wonder how the Jets defense would look without Wilk for a game. Jets struggled w/out Pryor no doubt, but I would hate to see the Jets w/out Marshall
Our offense could still produce without Marshall. It might not be as effective but it wouldn't be a drastic difference. He's just made one too many boneheaded plays. Our defense, on the other hand, went to complete and utter shit when Pryor left. It's like two different teams depending on if he's playing.
Define, "it might not be as effective" Decker has been absolutely $$$ in the RZ and in crucial situations with yards after the catch, but Marshall has been the key. We aren't 6-5 w/out Marshall.
I don't know if he's the best but he is certainly is the most fun to watch since we had Keyshawn. He truly enjoys being a Jet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I really don't think we'd move the ball very well at all. I'm not sure why you've come to this conclusion. We tried using Decker as the number one target with a similar cast of receivers behind him and he drew the coverage and didn't help the offense any bit. Without Marshall drawing coverage and being a monster in the red zone we'd have a horrible offense. Not to mention he's a great down field blocker.
Complete and utter bullshit. Marshall has easily been the most explosive offensive player the Jets have had in a very long time. He's probably the most talented WR we have had since Al Toon. The idea that our offense wouldn't be drastically different without his services is patently absurd. The guy has caught 9 of Fitz's 20 TD passes. For those of you counting at home, that's 45% of the TDs produced by our passing game. I mean, can we get fucking real?
BTW, just to further elucidate how moronic Greenday's post was: Brandon Marshall has 71 catches and 9 TD receptions (45% of Fitz's TD passes) Rob Gronkowski has 57 catches and 9 TD receptions (32% of Brady's TD passes) Would any sober person write that there "wouldn't be a drastic difference" in the Patriots offense if Rob Gronkowski didn't play another down this season?
Name the players: Player 1 One Year 48-1,169-8TD 8 Years Later 49-1,016-12TD Player 2 In same year as above 85-1,176-8TDs (Yep, 20TDs for 2WRs in the same year) Player 3 Rookie 63-844-8TDs Y2 70-963-5TDs Y3 83-1,131-10TDs Y4 89-,1,170-8TDs
Revis takes away ONE offensive player, and we think that's awesome. Marshall takes away TWO (sometimes 3) defensive players almost every snap. That's an extra 1 or 2 defensive players that aren't covering Decker or shutting down Ivory. So even if Marshall never catches a pass, his presence on the field allows our offense to move the football in many, many ways. Similar to Wilkerson getting dbl/tpl teamed. Mauldin gets the sack, but it was Wilk's dbl team that made it happen.
