All signs during the week pointed towards Brad Smith playing this week. He had participated in practice, even as late as Friday. However today, he's Inactive. Could this be a sign that the coaching staff is becoming more comfortable with Clowney? I hope so, this guy deserves a shot. He's done nothing to lose reps. On a side note, I really don't care which wide-outs play, as much as I care about Jones and Greene running for 300+ again. (As highly unlikely as it is, I'd like our team to be the first team to have a hat trick of 300 yard games.)
It's always a good idea to not rush a player back after a muscular injury. The part of the game in which Smith is really important is ST and obviously the CS doesn't want to rush him back because they think the Dolphins don't have good enough returners... PS to answer your question I think both Clowney and Wright proved against Oakland they can have a role as WRs on this team... Clowney as a deep threat and Wright as a physical WR.
I find it strange that he is inactive , and healthy. I agree Clowney deserves to be out there, Smith and Sanchez have a familiarity that can't be denied. If Smith was ruly game ready, he would be out there, even if just for his special teams ability.
I started an inactives thread before seeing this. Also Inactive today are Carroll, Cole and Murrell. This really seems to compromise our STs with Smith out too. Weird
That was my first thought as well, when I saw Smith was inactive. Carroll and Cole were both impressive on ST last week as well. Hopefully this doesn't hurt us.
