With the possibly large amount of space we freed up for Aso and several glaring needs we still have who are the best players available that would fit our system ? Obviously Braylon Edward Cromartie Chris Carr are the 3 getting repeated most often enough Eric Smith Brodney Pool Ihedigbo are all our safeties (which were severely lacking at) But who else is out there that we SHOULD be targeting ? This teams got glaring needs at corner/safety/olb and im sure many of us havent been paying attention to everyone whose available while salivating over Aso. Most specifically safeties, olb, de, and WRs what are our best options left other than our own guys ? I REALLY dont want to see us bring back Jason Taylor unless it means we spend big $$$ on a difference maker And I think Cromartie @ corner is very unlikely to happen, hell be grossly overpaid and i dont want to get into a bidding war with the Raiders or some other garbage team that wants him. Names im getting off of nfl.com that may or may not be signed. Safety- Melvin Bullitt Dashon Goldson Michael Huff Corner- Cromartie Richard Marshall Carlos Rogers Chris Carr Nate Clements Randall Gay (possibly cut) LB Roth Lawson Quincy Black (no idea who this is but apparently hes resigned 5 yrs 30 million for a nobody) DL Amobi Okoye Tommy Harris Cullen Jenkins And yes this list is hot garbage and is quite depressing to look at
Roth and Lawson can be added to the list. there aren't many OLBs out there, but they might be able to do something.
Players other then our own that I wouldn't mind us to at least take a look at. Aubrayo Franklin NT 49ers. Due to lockout our rookie DLinemen didn't get enough time to get used to the NFL at 30 hes still young. Would be nice to have a veteran to add to the rotation to many unknown variables with what we have. Richard Marshall CB from Panthers who I don't know if he's a FA or RFA couldn't find out which on a quick google search And maybe Roman Harper for SS. Not sure how well Leonhard is going to come back and we desperately need safetys
I dunno if that's fair. There aren't a ton of superstars available, but guys like Edwards, Cromartie, Carr, Marshall, Sims-Walker, Jones, and Jenkins can all be important pieces of a contender.
Braylon wants to be here, it's surprising that the we haven't heard anything about the jets trying to get him back yet. I'd also love to have Cromartie back, but if he is demanding a major payday, I wouldn't mind the jets going after Nate Clements and have him battle with Kyle Wilson for the #2 CB spot.
Black resigned in TB already. I have heard Jamaal Anderson (cut by Atl) might be a guy that could be converted to OLB add to the WR pool as well James Jones, Malcolm Floyd, Michael Jenkins, Chansi Stuckey There are options out there for adding to this team, it just doesn't feel like much after being scorned. But don't worry we are going to make moves and make our team better than it is right now. We just have to be patient. Tanny is going to start making moves and then all will be forgiven...
We need OL help also with Woody retiring. It was good signing Hunter but we need to get more depth at guard and tackle. I don't know what Flozell has left but at the right price he may be worth taking a look at in training camp.
I thought that tonight would be a huge night of hearing about a million guys signing. This being the first night it can be official, even for small pickups, thought we'd be commenting on alot of new Jets.
Well it was because they changed the qualifications on RFA rules and all that. So there are almost no RFA out there and a shit ton more UFA than their usually should be.
I hate to say it, but id say a trade is possibly the best way well fill some of our needs. The safety market is shit so I could certainly see us giving up a 2nd or 3rd rounder to get one. Only stuff out there is a handful of recievers and some mediocre sure to be overpaid corners.
I'd take an asshole for depth if he plays well. That stuff sorts itself out in the locker room, especially if they guy is no longer a starter. FLozell has had his issues on the field though so I'm not sure if he can even play anymore. I still wouldn't underestimate the need for OL help. I remember how bad Ducasse was on hard knocks and in pre-season last year. Maybe he improves enough this year to fill in occasionally but I'd hate for Sanchez or Greene to go down for the season because they HAD to start him.
agreed. I think our OL depth is probably as good as it is likely to get... Hopefully we get some good stuff out of one of the UDFA's we signed...
