Damn, did you guys see the Flight Crew or whatever they call them... I sure hope it doesn't start to get cold. I love it when they skip on and off the field. Anyways, the Jets looked horrible. No pass rush, no pass protection, can't stop the run, first down one after another... and the list goes on. I don't want to call the season after the first game but that defense better step it up a whole lot of notches. I thought the offense was OK. Chad Pennington looked pretty good, had a few bad throws but wasn't given any time. Clemens isn't the answer... believe me guys. We are better off leaving Chad in there and when the playoff is out of reach, that is the time for Clemens. It makes no sense to put in Clemens in the 2nd week of the season unless Chad is really hurt. I can't wait for the Ravens game next week. I think Mangini will have a solution to this poor pass rush. I think our secondary is fine but we can't give a QB forever to throw especially Brady. Giving him more then 5 seconds is a automatic completion. If we come away with a 1-1 record after these two tough games, I think we will be headed to a great season. After Baltimore our schedule gets easier.
mangini didnt have a solution to the poor pass rush all of last year....what makes you think he will have an answer next week?
Mangini's answer to the lack of a pass rush last season was a little-known Kerry Rhodes. Rhodes will now be keyed on all year for that, and I'm not sure what else they can throw at a decent offensive line but it's looking ugly so far.
I am also excited very much for the ravens game, I'm not really too impressed with baltimore, there offense atleast is nothing special. You are right on all points you made, the jets stunk today. But if they can get some pass rush next wk, they will be alright. Steve McNair is not Tom Brady and our secondary should be able to play much better against him, even when we rush extra guys. And if the o-line can man up, then Jones and Washington can run wild which will make everything easier on chad. This team has a ton of talent at WR, RB, special teams, and the secondary, but the o-line and d-line are weak, so they must find a way to overcome that.
If the defense plays next week like they played today, the Ravens' defense will look like the 1999 St. Louis Rams.
