http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/articles/2010/09/17/in_this_corner/ Great read. Didn't see it posted, so sorry if I missed it.
If his numbers this year are anywhere near what they were last season he'd be well on his way to being the best ever.
That late bomb to Moss really was something else. That's the moment I think a lot of us Jets fans realized we had something special on our hands. We knew Revis was good. But after already having a win against the Jets wrapped up, Brady and Moss were still trying to get a win against Revis. Hopefully Cromartie and Wilson can get up to speed fast, because they certainly have the talent to make our defense tougher to throw against than Sheppard and Strickland did last year. Then again, Sheppard and Strickland never drew penalties like our new guys did last week.
anyone have video of that last throw? I remember seeing it on youtube with Rex cursing and calling a timeout with 6 seconds on offense.
The TD pass Moss caught that game against Revis was just as pathetic as the late bomb. He didn't even run a pattern. The route was awkward it surprised Revis. Even then Revis was still in his shorts. Randy Moss has never in his life needed scheming to get open until Revis. He's so use to just outrunning and outjumping CBs that Revis frustrates him to the utmost degree. I bet the Patriots are going to try a lot of gimmicky stuff in an effort to get Moss free. Just the fact they have to gameplan for Revis means Revis already won.
No idea why these were only posted for 11 games, but there is an error in there, Revis didn't go on Mike Simms-Walker until after he had already scored his TD. Simms-Walker was shut out after Revis switched to him. This is actually what I believe to be our third example of such a stupid decision by Rex. He has been putting Revis on the other teams historically best receiver, not the receiver playing the best right now. He had Revis on Torry Holt that day until Simms-Walker was killing us, and then they swapped him over. Then the other day, Rex had Revis on Mason instead of Boldin. If Revis shuts out Boldin, I think the Ravens offense fails to complete a bunch of those 3rd downs especially the ones on penalty I mean we still would have given some up, and Mason would probably have caught a few passes, but does anybody think he was going to have 7 grabs for 100+ yards receiving and a minimum of 3 penalties drawn? Yeah neither did I. Hopefully Rex stops putting Revis on the aging guy who used to be a superstar (Torry Holt), or the guy who has garnered Rex's respect (Derrick Mason) and puts Revis on the #1 target all day long from here on out.
He is a great football player. Of that there is no doubt. Is he a leader? Should he have refused to participate in OTAs and TC? Did that hurt his team? Should he be calling opposing wrs a "slouch"?
Good read, but the TD Mike Sims-Walker had on us was not when he was covered by Revis, so his stats look even better than what they showed.
It's not like we were asking them to play corner...we are asking wilson and cromartie to play one on one. I think one of rex's big mistakes is that he expects that everyone can be a super freak like revis and cover 1:1...well they can't and that's when we get penalties...when our d was playing great on 1st and 2nd down, why didn't we just play on 3rd down like we did on first and second? why? b/c rex wanted to "bring on the pressure" when we clearly don't have the personnel (at least at this point) in the secondary to cover the loss of manpower when every blitzes...we would have won that game if we didn't send everyone like we were doing (and its not like we were getting any pressure vs. the ravens when sending everyone anyway. it was very frustrating to watch as we all know.
