I was replaying this interview and they were spot on. They were respectful but didn't bs around and their concerns were realized this season. Listen to the section about the offense starting at 5:38. As soon as they get away from talking about the defense Rex begins to falter. When they press him about making Holmes a captain Rex goes into BS mode that you often hear in his post game conferences when confronted about a mistake he made or something he doesn't want to talk about. You also can see he really believed this whole Tebow wildcat package was going to work and discounted the effect it would have on Mark and being a distraction to the team. Rex sees something another team had success with against his defense (wildcat) then he feels the need to acquire the players/coaches who orchestrated it (Tebow/Sparano). In the lost to Denver last year, Tebow was shut down for the entire game except for that one last drive and Rex subsequently falls head over heals for Tebow. The wildcat was a gimmick that was used by teams who were bad and/or didn't have a legit QB. Goes to show how clueless Rex is when it comes to offense. Thanks, great stuff. Rex can be a good HC if he realizes he knows NOTHING about offense and get someone in who will be OC/Asst HC. WTF are they waiting for on Norv ? Are they waiting for Jerry Jones to come to his senses and offer him a 5-year deal for $15 MM ???
You wonder how Victor Cruz affects their thinking. They saw the guy have 1 great Preseason game against them...he turns into a star with the Giants....now any player they fall in love with for 1 game they have to have. Watch...they'll trade Tebow for Chad "Marino" Henne.
I'm sure you are right about this, they are bound to wait til the new GM is announced first. I just hope they can get them both sorted out soon - this week would be good!
Man I sure hope our new GM has FULL control of the personnell and balls of steel... 'cause Rex sure needs a babysitter!
Rex is always one step behind and is extremely over-reactionary. For instance- In 2009, Peyton picks apart our nickel CB. What does Rex do to combat that? He drafts a CB 1st round meanwhile we had traded for Cromartie. He had the team invest so much in the CB position just to combat 1 or 2 teams like the Colts or Patriots? Also, Holmes tore him up while in Baltimore, so what does he do? Has Tanny trade for him, give him a captain "C" and pushes Tanny to resign Holmes instead of Edwards. Pittsburgh ran all over us and we couldnt bring down Big Ben, so what do we do? Draft 2 DLmen back to back. Tebow came back and beat us in a horrible loss? Rex has got to have him. He always seems to be one step behind and is trying to solve problems that already happened. Also, Im not saying Wilkerson and Ellis were bad picks...
I can't handle listening to any of Rex's interviews anymore. He doesn't answer anything, or he flat out lies to us. I can't imagine why anybody on this site still thinks Rex is a good coach worth keeping.
He does realize he knows nothing about O. he's gone on the record about that many times. That's one of the reasons I wanted him fired.
