    2. The New York Jets will start the season 0-5.

What's that? Someone in the media speaking somewhat negatively about Rex Ryan's boys? No flipping way, that's impossible!

Listen, I understand that coach Ryan's personality and media accessibility is a welcome change from the silent treatment Eric Mangini gave New York-area scribes for the past three years, but that doesn't mean everyone needs to trick themselves into thinking this team can survive a brutal September schedule with a rookie quarterback manning the ship.

    They won't.

A Week 1 nationally-televised trip to Houston will be anything but a walk in the park, back-to-back home games versus the Patriots and Titans are almost automatic losses and road games in New Orleans and Miami in Weeks 4 and 5 will more than likely feature the Jets as underdogs as well.

Jets fans, I'm not trying to be a Debbie Downer, here. Really, I'm not. I'm just being a realist.

Your local media's let you down, awed and dazzled by a head coach that looks them in the eye during press conferences and gives them the occasional juicy quote. That might make for good copy. But it doesn't guarantee a good start to what will be nothing short of a gauntlet to start the season.

0-5? For a team that everyone's seemingly really high on in 2009?

    Yes, I think so.

Why is he a douchebag? I'm a lifelong Jets fan, and I've been saying that for quite some time now.

The only winnable games are Miami and possibly Houston. I don't have a lot of faith in either of those games.

I'd love to shut up the critics (and have the Jets shut me up too) by starting out 5-0, but let's be realistic. What he said is absolutely correct.

A rookie HC. A rookie QB. A really tough schedule. We'll be lucky to win one or two of the first 5. As I've been saying all along: 4 wins this year. 5 if we overachieve.

Without Ellis and Pace for a few of those games. And with the rookie QB, unproven WR. I tend to agree 0-4 is a possibility. First win against the :finssuck:

    Hope im wrong.

    I forgot those too.

Not to mention a complete lack of depth on both lines.

Nobody but Jets fans have any reason to believe that a team with a rookie starting QB and a rookie HC installing a new defense would do anything but go 0-5 with the schedule we have.

I'd feel pretty sorry for edge if we went 0-5, though.

With Ellis and, most importantly, Pace out everything is (literally) on Kris Jenkins' shoulders.
If he can stay healthy we have a chance... if he's not 100% (having missed most of TC) we are in a bad position...

Thank You ..... A Voice of Reason / Fact

0-5 Not This Year .... Houston is a VERY winnable game, Miami the same .... and I'm sorry, but the Patsies have looked anything but impressive this preseason .... Yes I know it's preseason ...

So this douchebags OPINION is 0-5, well you know what they same about OPINIONS ....

My thoughts are 3-2 after 5

This is what I wrote in another thread "Prediction..."

    "@ HOU
    NE
    TEN
    @ NO

It's very plausible that we lose all 4 of these games. Rookie QB, WR issue, Pace suspension, Ellis suspension, rookie HC...but most importantly tough competition.

Anyone who disagrees is extremely naive.

I can see them coming back and winning the next 4 though, 2 MIA, BUF & OAK."

6-10 unless Sanchez exceeds his relatively high expectations.

Yeah really. Anyone who predicts something other than 19-0 is to be criticized? Alrighty then.

Miami is certainly a winnable game. Perhaps NO. I would love to see them beat NE, but wouldn't be surprised if the line for that game is in double figures.

Can't u just shut up now? You're a bigger joke than Detroit at the moment. Even one of the worst teams win 4 games a season. Do you think we are NFLs worst team at the moment after Detroit? I thought so. Going 0-5 doesn't mean end of the world anyways. I predicted we'll start 1-3. The schedule is easier towards October and November.

I have been accused of being the biggest darksider here and I'm telling you now we won't start the season 0-5.

You were accused of that because you hated Mangini so much. You're in man-love with Rex now, so I consider you nothing of the sort.

Haven't beaten NE at our place for over 8 years. Couldn't do it even with Matt Cassell at QB. No reason to think we'll do it this year.

I really think that a loss against Houston in Week 1 will level-set a lot of people's expectations of this team.

Yes, this is looking like a transition year. Something that we should be quite familiar with given all the coaching and QB changes that we've made over the years!

If we started the year 0-5 and finished the season 7-9 would it considered to be a successful season? I would think so.

lol..I did hate Mangini but I have no opinion on Ryan yet. What I think though is that our defense will be good enough to keep us in almost every game and because of that we will some along the way.

I actually agree with Don. We will not sink that low, tho my expectations this year are, we will not reach the Playoffs.

C'mon guys. Seriously? Titans are without Haynesworth. Nate Washington is not the savior of that WRc corps. Our D got more aggressive than last year and we took it to them in their house. What? Kerry Collins is gonna burn us all of a sudden? Houston is a win-able game, Pats is 50/50, Titans is a win-able game, and NO will be tough.

To me, that's 2-2...possibly a 3-1 start with the Dolphins coming up in Week 5.

0-5 is as likely as 5-0 in my opinion.

I think "naive" is a bit extreme.

The Texans is a winnable game. They have some studs, sure, but if you keep two guys in check, and Lito can manage not to get 42 penalties, there's a winnable game. Nothing left but Slaton and Shaub. Probably the second hardest game of the stretch.

NE I automatically think loss but hey, we've beaten them before with a pansy D.

Tenn? Haynesworth? Who is QB'ing? C'mon, nothing very scary there except for last year. Oh right, the Jets beat them with that same pansy D. That's a winnable game in my eyes.

NO - I have no idea what to expect from those guys this year.

Miami - Yes looking at last year's record it would appear on the surface that they might be a force. Here's my problem with that: I need them to prove it to me. I know Pennington hates being pressured and he's going to be pressured so unless he miraculously develops nuts of steel between now and then, I'm going to say the phins don't stand a chance this year. Win.

Ima darksider here but for christ sake 0-4 is putting absolutely 0 faith in this team.
