If Oregon and Auburn go undefeated we already know who's going to the BCS bowl. But if one between Orgeon and Auburn loses a game, Auburn more likely with Alabama in it's final game, while TCU and Boise both make an undefeated run, who goes to the BCS Bowl between the two? Also, do you think it's right or are teams with only one loss in more difficult divisions more BCS Bowl worthy? PS All hail the play-off system btw...
this probably should be in the "reason for a CFB playoff week 1 thread" That said, I think it will be TCU. They were already ahead of Boise then they just smacked the #5 team in the country yesterday by 40. I think Boise is the better team, but according the BCS it will be TCU. I think Oregon will beat TCU without much trouble, but I think Boise will be able to hold their own. Can they win the game? sure, but its pretty unlikely. I am rooting for the Oregon vs. Boise matchup, but it would require both TCU and Auburn to lose, which doesnt seem likely. Hell on top of that, in order to hold off a 1 loss team, Va Tech may have to win the ACC for Boise to get in.
I have a big damn problem with a team that hasn't lost a game in two years not making a national championship in either. I hope drumming Nevada will help boost them past TCU (who lost to Boise in a BCS bowl game last year). Plus, I really enjoy watching Kellen Moore.
This... Oregon vs Boise is the best scenario... Is the fact Boise beat TCU in a bowl last year counted in the rankings?
Well, I guess it can be counted in the rankings. In the computer rankings? No. But, they do factor in a series of polls, which can be manipulated I suppose. If the coaches believe that Boise is better because of the win last season, that can boost Boise slightly in the BCS rankings.
^ya but they don't and they won't. I don't think boise has a chance unless TCU looses, so I don't think Boise has a chance. Sucks, but that's how it goes.
TCU was the last team to beat Kellen Moore and Boise State, and it was in a bowl game. TCU was the last team to beat Boise, and Boise was the last team to beat TCU. Thats pretty damn even in my book. Oregon vs. Boise St/TCU would be a great game, no matter what.
I personally think the best way to settle the boise vs. TCU matchup is by having them play each other for a national title... which of course could only happen with both Oregon and Auburn losing, which wont happen. Also, even though I am a big Boise fan, last seasons win over TCU should NOT factor into this year. its a different year with a different environment, and the teams are both different. not vastly different, but different none the less. Maybe Boise and TCU should settle the debate early next year and just play each other as an out of confernce game.
My problem with them both being in the same bowl, whether its championship or other, they don't get to show off against the BCS schools. I'd much rather see Boise/TCU take down one of the top dogs, just to prove once again that they belong.
All in all it would be fucked up if Boise and TCU both go unbeaten and only one makes it to the championship... at this point it'd be fairer if both Oregon and Auburn win out and face each other in the championship game. This btw is the most likely scenario imo... LSU has showed that 'bama is beatable this year...
!?!? TCU to the big east?! Does that make sense geographically?! Jesus Christ I hate these conference realignments... I mean, Can't we just have 12 teams per division... have a transition year to make that happen and that's that!? If every team first loses a team and the nacquires another one somewhere else this shit will never stop. IMO one between the WAC, the MWC and the Big 12 has to die... and maybe the big east too (football-wise).
There is no way to justify Boise going to the Title game over TCU. Boise plays nobody, we've been over it a lot in different threads, and the computer rankings reflect that. TCU just hammered Utah, a very, very good team ranked #5 in the nation and solidified their place in the top 3. That said, I can't guarantee either team makes it over a major conference team with one loss. People can complain all they want about the Broncos not getting respect, but that's what they get for not being in a major conference. You don't deserve to be put on the same level as major conference teams because they aren't playing legitimate teams week-in, week-out. I didn't see them complaining about not getting a nod for the Pac Ten this year either, while Utah was more than happy to make the jump.
Just saw this tweeted by the AP Top 25, interesting stat... Interesting to compare opponent win-loss records: Oregon (32-50), Boise St (32-41), TCU (44-50), Auburn (55-36) and LSU (51-30)
id love to see a BSU Oregon title...bad blood, a great offense agaianst a great defense...id love to see it and think it would get serious ratings
