yeah sad day in yankee history. the man announced some of the best players to ever play the game. amazing voice. i believe jeter has it in his contract that they have to use a recording of bob announcing him before his at bats

I was so upset this morning, perhaps one of the greatest experiences as a kid was going to Yankee Stadium for the first time, hearing Bob Sheppard and asking my dad who had a voice like that. RIP Sheppard

A very sad day. The old Stadium and new Stadium have never felt the same w/o his voice. I always loved going to Yankee games hearing Bob Sheppard on the PA, I remember the first time I didn't hear him. I believe it was 1998 and he was sick for a weekend and they had the guy in who sounds like him but doesn't sound like him if you know what Sheppard really sounds like. He will be missed, he already has been missed the past few years.

This coming from a Mets fan...RIP. The voice of Yankee Stadium, no doubt about it.

I actually choked up yesterday when I heard. It's been nice to see so many say good things about him. I even saw Boston fans saying nice things, which was unexpected, and very classy.

They'll be playing the recording at the All-Star game when Jeter comes to bat as a salute.

    Well, relatively speaking, anyway.
