Yessir I am happy for the first time in 2017. The New York Jets have finally taken steps to right the ship and start heading in the right direction. This team has begun its transformation finally.

It would be hard to argue this upheaval we've seen today on both sides of the ball wasn't necessary. The Jets had gotten stale in their play, stale in their philosphy and stale in their attitudes. In short, the New York Jets were BORING to the point of being pathetic.

Yeah, TB would like you to think these changes were his idea but I would bet this month's mortgage payment that the price for keeping his job was wholesale changes in the CS. In addition to that, I've read that Woody told him to become the CEO HC instead of the HC/DC he has been. Bowles, just like Ryan, couldn't be bothered with the offense. If Bowles wants his job in 2018, he'd better change that PDQ.

TB's biggest job this offseason, one that will make or break him here, is to put together a new CS. He kept his buddy and that may have been a fatal error. I hope Bowles realizes he's gonna need help and not from Parcells either. If Bowles screws up these new hires, he's done here. No pressure but he needs a new staff in place before the draft. Good luck Todd, you're gonna need it!

Now the spotlight is on Macc. He's got a lot of work to do between now and Draft Day. He still has to prove he can be a successful GM instead of a glorified scout. He can't afford anymore 2nd rd "projects". He really can't afford anymore ridiculous contracts either. On top of doing his homework on FA's and College players, he's also gonna have to do the one thing team has not done since Parcells. Clean out all the dead weight!

Macc is gonna have to unload contracts. A LOT OF THEM. He's gonna have to commit to a full rebuild instead of some halfassed "competitive rebuild" that really didn't work. Guys with names will have to walk the plank so the young guys can finally develop. Revis can't comeback even as a safety. He doesn't tackle nor does he hit anymore. That pretty much makes him useless as a safety. Fitz gone, Marshall gone along with several other highpriced non-producing vets.

The time to get younger is NOW! Macc can remake his rep with wise decisions and avoiding the mistakes he's already made with the draft and contract negotiations.

Welcome to the perverbial Fork in the Road Jet Fans! Keep your fingers crossed we come out of this on the bright side for once. :)

feels more like 2015 again to me.
same GM, same HC, 6th overall pick, tenuous at best situations at QB and Oline.

2015 worked out somewhat ok tho...so I'd sign up for that at this point.
I just hope the 10W comes from one of the young QB's.

Draft offense, offense and more offense and buy anything else you might need. After you cut half the team you should have some money to do that.

I wonder how hard he had to plead and beg to keep Rodgers. Maybe someone will make him an offer and he'll skip town ...

We should be so lucky ...

I was thinking 2008. Except Mangini went 10-6 followed by 4-12 without losing his job.

Why fire the Running Backs coach?

Todd Bowles getting involuntarily drafted for the first colony on Mars would be a blessing in disguise.

Thanks for the ray of Hope CMan

TBH I would feel better if you were the guy in charge rather our stinker of a Coach who I don't trust to know which end is up

Again, Mac will find replacements and 40-60 per cent will probably be decent..

My fear is the CS cant develop ANY players In fact they might get screwed up or end up antidepressants

If there were rankings the Jets CS lands 32 nd in the league SMH

I don't think Hue Jackson did a bad job with the Browns...only worst guy could be Chip Kelly but prob debateable

Sorry , still in denial Bowles is still here

I am cautiously optimistic about the direction the team is going in. It's nice to see them taking proactive steps on trying to right the ship.

But if Mac and Bowles are supposedly on the hot seat I don't see them getting away with a full blown rebuild year unless woody has already assured them they are good for next year.

Hopfully they can bring in some good people who can develop the young players and build a foundation, Assuming they don't just reload the roster with aging vets to have one last Go at it before they loose their jobs

It took him 12 weeks to figure out Powell is our guy

Maybe the fact that the Jets couldn't rely on any single other RB than forte and Powell...that's why the RB coach was fired

I'm actually pretty optimistic about all of these changes.

As long as we get rid of Sheldon and Marshall and bring in some new locker room leaders, we'll likely be much better off next season.

The only firing I don't really get is Marcell Shipp. The runningbacks seemed to be pretty solid this year so I'm not sure why we got rid of him. With that being said, a runningback coach is pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

Be a little bit optimistic you fucks, lol.

Maybe he was partially responsible for the growth and development of Powell?

No RB coach in the history of the NFL has been fired because of the lack of production from their 3rd and 4th string RB.

Whatever, it's a RB coach and I don't care... Just a weird termination in my opinion.

Good Post. I am also cautiously optimistic. Apologize for this long post but here it is.

    My offseason approach would be:
Purge some veterans. Goners are Marshall via trade (too many drops and drama and time to turn to over to the youth movement. Still have Decker and Enunwa as veterans in the WR room. if you can get a 5th and conditional do it. If not cut him.), Sheldon via trade (3rd and conditional is about the max we can get for him, Revis (no matter what he's willing to pay for he is gone), Fitz, Mangold (love him and is a true Jet but we need to stop paying players off of Nostalgia), Clady, Gilchrist, Breno, McLendon, and Folk. I'd keep Harris for another year. This frees up like $50 million in space I think. Space I wouldn't be too crazy to spend this offseason. I'd take the Idzik approach which I hated then with the circumstances but advocate for this offseason. Save the space and roll it over for a big 2017-2018 offseason,

Yes that leaves a ton of holes but next year should be about 3 things. This may not be popular but one of those things is not being a playoff team. This roster has way too many holes. If Woody or anyone else thinks this team will be competitive next year, they are fooling themselves. Nor do I think that should even be a focus. That's why we are who we are. Woody and co are afraid to rebuild.

    1. 1a, 1b and 1 c - Build the offensive line. I think keepers on the line are obviously Carpenter, but I'd keep Winters (he made a ton of progress this year. I see him as the new Matt Slauson. Was bad for a while, we develop him then he walks and has a hell of a career somewhere else. Don't make this mistake again.) Shell looks like he can be a player and Ilijana, Dozier and Johnson are worth bringing back to camp and letting them compete for backup roles. I would use 2-3 high draft picks on OL and that would be my only big free agent spending - bring in a FA lineman like Cannon, Warford or Zeitler who I believe will all be FAs. It's so obvious and many on this board have said it. O Line is the most neglected yet most important facet of this team. I just don't understand why we don't invest more resources there. If you want the chance to develop a young QB and decent running game, this is priority #1.

    2. Develop the young WR - getting rid of Marshall helps. The kids got a ton of valuable snaps this year which I think helps tremendously next year. I am fine going into next season with Decker, Q, Anderson, J Marshall and Peake as the WRs. Add Sefarian Jenkins to the mix and bring in a young TS through the draft.

3 Fix the secondary - Skrine is terrible but looking at his salary vs. cap hit, just keep him. Burris, Roberts, and Williams are decent, hopefully Burris can emerge as a starter. This is probably the only other place to spend FA dollars. Bring in a FS and a top line corner. Berry and gilmore are pipe dreams but they are FAs next year. Also Trumain Johnson and Cyprien are FAs I'd look at.

use the draft, aside from O line to bring in secondary players and a RB.

Some may say develop a QB but I can't see that happening this year. Whether its Hack or Petty or anyone else, it's gonna be a rebuild year.

This is gonna get killed because I can't believe I am even typing it but......I'd extend Bowles and Mac a year. Before the bullets fly hear me out.

We should have fired Bowles Monday and extended Mac and let him pick his own coach. Since we didn't and since this team, according to my plan, won't be very competitive with the talent level next year, keep them around for 2018 to see if the development plan from 2017 pays off. Also what OC or assistants are coming the dead man walking HC and GM? Doesn't mean you have to keep them beyond next year, but the illusion of continuity may just help attract better coaches and give the organization a sense that there is actually a plan in place.

OK, let the bullets fly lol.....

Maybe he was the one who said that Hack couldn't hit the ocean with one of his passes.
