In light of the Jenkins injury I feel a backup needs to be drafted... I hear this kid is the answer... anyone have better info on him?

He is an absolute beast with the prototype NT body (Height: 6-foot-1
Weight: 323 pounds). He could be a very good prospect for the position.

I'm also interested in Terrence Cody from Alabama. He's a very big guy (6-foot-5 365 pounds). I have hopes we end up getting one of these two as a back NT for the future. DL depth, as well as O-line depth, needs to be groomed soon.

I would LOVE for the Jets to get Raji. I'm always in favor of depth on the lines. And with Jenkins recent injury, everyone can see how important it is to have a decent backup NT.

Besides extra bodies means rotating guys more and keeping everyone fresh. That's always a good thing for DL.

Bama is playing Georgia this weekend if you want to get a good look at booth Knowshon Moreno and Terance Cody. Should be a gret game with some very good prospects in it.

We need to draft Mount Cody. Last week, we saw what it was like when Jenkins left the game.

Cody and Jenkins in the same rotation would be insane.

I think it's important to get a good NT in the draft this year. If he takes a couple of years to fully mature that's fine, because Jenko will be solid for the next 2-3 at max, but after that we'll need to look to someone young.

Cody is in the Wilfork/Hampton/Ngata level as a NT prospect...and yes I realize Ngata plays end. Dude's got a motor at 380+...

Terrence Taylor and Raji are solid depth behind him. Theres a few other guys.

I keep hearing good things about the Duke DT. Not a NT prospect, but a good 3-4 DL prospect in general.

I hoped Raji would come out last year and we could get him in the 3rd or 4th. This year we may need a 1st to get him. I hope we won?t have a 1st. If we do, i wouldn?t mind drafting him even in the 1st to rotate with Jenkins.

I don't like Raji stature his height and weight make him a little to light for a 3-4 dt.. Gives me thoughts of d-rob only reason jenkins is doing so well is he can take on two blocks at once and he is the same height as most of the o-linemen.

Completely differnet type of DT to DRob.

Ron Brace is a taller version of Raji.

I'm not doubting his skills but he will have to take on 6'4 to 6'8 o-linemen so he raji at 6'1 is at a huge disadvantage in height then the weight is something different

    Vince Wilfork is 6'2

    Casey Hampton is 6'1

    Jamal Williams is 6'3

Height for a nose tackle is pretty much insignificant

You need your 3-4 DE to be tall like 6-5 or 6-6 to match up against the giant Offensive Tackles. But you want your NT to be short and stubby (6-1 or 6-2). A guy like Raji at 6-1 , 325 is the perfect size for the inside of the line. NT needs to get a leverage advantage against C and G, most of whom are in the 6-3 range. So Raji's build is just what you look for.

The only NT who are tall are the gargantuan players like Shaun Rogers (probably in the 400 lb range). You just can't pack that much weight on a shorter guy. But Rogers will also have a lot more stamina problems than a smaller, more compact player. So Rogers also won't play as much during the game. He'll have to take a lot more plays off.

That depends on if Terrence Cody from Alabama declares:

    SI.com - Risers for 2009 NFL Draft

Terrence Cody/NT/Alabama: Cody, who was playing for Gulf Coast Community College at this time last year, made an immediate impact upon his arrival at Alabama and has NFL scouts inspecting him closely. The Tide's No. 1-ranked rush defense is reliant on the 360-pound Cody clogging the middle of the field. He's only a junior and has played just six games for the Tide, yet already ranks as the top nose tackle prospect by NFL standards.

We wont have any shot at Cody or Raji I would love to hope that one of them falls but I doubt it.

IMO, we do not have luxury to spend a 1st, 2nd or 3rd round draft pick for depth purposes.
Clearly there is a dropoff when Kris Jenkins heads to the sidelines, & Raji & Cody look real real good,......but until we have every other position covered by capable hands, we cannot spend an early rounder on depth.
Its a shame neither of these guys were available last year, we certainly would have considered grabbing one.
If we find one later in the draft,.....great.
We found Jason Ferguson in the 7th round years ago.

I disagree with this entirely. We have covered a ton of positions and now are in good shape to take BPA in round one. We could use a starter or depth in almost every area of the team in the next year or two.

QB, RB, OL, WR, even TE have either aging players and/or little depth. Don't try to sell me Stucky or Clowney as WR depth. Both have shown little at this point and if an elite WR falls should be taken.

Same goes for DE, ILB, CB and Safty. CB has a stud in Revis and potential in Lowery, still would not mind a mid round pick spent there.

NT and OLB may be the areas where we seem set, but if a talent like Raji or Cody happend to be in the right spot at the right price, I could not argue going after them.

Trying to name our biggest hole at the moment changes week to week. It will take some time after the season is complete for me to truely get my head wraped around it. Thats a good thing, because it menas we need upgrades and don;t have massive glaring holes like last year.
